Forums - Sales Discussion - Do you think the Switch will sell more in 2021?

What range will the Switch sell in 2021?

26M + 20 43.48%

21-25M 19 41.30%

15-20M 7 15.22%

Not sure. 0 0%

Total:46

The Switch has sold very well this year beating 2019.But with no big system games in the 2nd half of the year,is it possible with likely a more normal release schedule next year that the Switch will beat its 2020 sales?

I think that its a toss up right now but I assume it will sell at least 17 M next year.

17 million in 2021 is a serious lowball considering its momentum, the rumored Pro revision, better supply than this year, and games like Monster Hunter Rise.

I understand, I hope they have a more normal release schedule next year so their won't be any droughts, with that in place I can see 25 M.

Assuming you mean FY, well, this year switch should hit anywhere from 25-30 million. I don't think next FY would sell more, but I could see it selling around the same amount, potentially extending its peak.

They don't make spambots like they used to.

There's a chance Breath of the Wild 2 comes out next year, so on that alone it'd probably be hard to predict anything less than 20 million. Then again, I'm not particularly confident they will get the game out that quick, but still, it feels inevitable that they'll release some killer app for it next year. Don't think the next-gen consoles are gonna have an impact yet, Switch sales are only gonna start declining in 2022.

They are reusing a lot of assets and most of the gameplay elements, so it's hard to imagine they won't be able to get it done in 4+ years when they worked on the first one for 5 and 2 systems.

That said, I am hard-pressed to predict that the Switch will sell anything under 18 million. It all depends on Nintendo, really. They could do anywhere from 18-26 million next year, depending on the release schedule.

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

At this point I expect next year to be another huge one. MH Rise and carried over demand from this year should push Japan alone to 7 mil sales. And if it does get a new model then that should help keep its momentum going strong in the rest of the world.
To answer the name of the thread I strongly doubt it'll sell more than in 2020, but I could see it being another 25 mil+ year.

2024 OpenCritic Prediction Leagues:

Nintendo | PlayStation | Multiplat

With the updated more powerful model it will boost sales and seeing MHR and games using uncapped framerates. I think a strong possibility it's happening now.
