Forums - Microsoft - Xbox acquires Bethesda

Guys , after clearing my mind and cooling my brain. I get the big picture. This acquisition might not bad after all and not bad for Sony at all. Microsoft are not trying to win console competition they trying to win subscription.

Buying Bethesda for 7 billion for winning console war is not good for shareholders, but buying them for subscription is good for shareholders. So i am sure all games will be available on PS console or Switch as well. Xbox still has small subscription compared to putting games on other platform.

So i can see some establish franchise will still be available on the future for other platform including PS platform.

That could work. Offer the games on Game Pass for the XSX and sell them for 60-70$ on PS5. Would make them more money and get money from the people who would never buy an Xbox.

The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, DOOM, Quake, Wolfenstein, and Dishonored, among others are all coming to GamePass now. All of these titles are about to get backward compatibility enhanced on Xbox Series X & S. Better load times, frame rate, input lag, and other performances. You keep earing that people don't play old games but the biggest exclusive release on PS5 is Demon Soul's remake.

Sony: Demon Soul's remake on PS5 for $69.99.
Microsoft: Enhance backward compatible Skyrim for free for anyone owning a disc/digital copy or Free if you own Gamepass.

At the end of the day, I'm just happy to see that MS is really serious about wanting GamePass to be the Netflix of gaming. They clearly recognize the kind of steady stream of content that's required to make this happen, and they're really going for it. This puts them in an amazing position to accomplish that goal.

Yup PS brand is too big even for Microsoft to neglected. With that mind i can see that will happen. Microsoft will get subscriber from game pass and sales by selling games on Playstation . It's a win win solution for them. We might even see other Microsoft games coming to Playstation with more expensive price tag

The good thing about this deal, it forces pc gamers to use windows store :)

So far it hasn't?.

They know there's millions to reach on Steam, that don't want to use Windows store anyway.

Today Microsoft won us all as customers.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Gotta sell consoles to get subscribers. Not everyone has a gaming capable PC.

Wow. That's very surprising. I've been leaning towards getting a Xbox Series X first for third party games, Game Pass, and first party Xbox One games I missed out on, but Bethesda being acquired by Microsoft is helping me lean even more towards that console. I still want to get a PS5, but that will be for exclusives sometime after I get the Xbox console.

I don't think Elder Scroll, Fallout and Doom will show up on Steam ...
These games are gigantic, will buying at the windows store displease some? yes, but do you really think fans will stop buying? absolutely not ... these games are very big and have very dedicated fans who will buy them anywhere.
Another point, Steam takes about 30% of the game's value, I don't think Microsoft needs to give up that money to promote "better sales" of such big games ... as a bonus they promoted the windows store, probably making it a little more popular.

In short, many will complain about Elderscroll and others being exclusive to the windows store on the PC, but in the end they will buy anyway, simply because they have no choice, end.
