Yeah, Skyrim or Elder Scroll series is the one that i am afraid to lose as well. I can live without Fallout and the rest, but Skyrim is very big for me.  I might playing it on pC (even tho i will not upgrade for a couple year down the road )

I get the impression that Elder Scrolls VI will be multiplatform but everything beyond that will be Xbox/PC only.

This is why I kinda sorta wish Microsoft would just bail on console manufacture. Imagine how much more money they'd make if they...offered services on PC and PS5? No hardware manufacture, just services. They have a handful of good IP and Bethesda's additions are a handful more, but it's not enough to justify a console purchase in my opinion.

What services could they offer on PS5? It took Sony ages to allow EA Access on PS4. Why would they ever allow something as magnificent as GamePass on PSN?

I'm always PC first and seeing all these IP's that I have love (Doom, TES, Prey) getting swallowed up by a huge company never-mind Microsoft is just well, shit.

But yeah it doesn't really affect me lol. And I will never cheerlead for these corporate decisions, warriors gonna warrior anyway :P

Yeah, if you have a good PC you get virtually everything, eventually. and with Steam Sales...well, I bet literally every PC gamer has a backlog over 100 games.

But with me, I tried to avoid the console wars all last generation. I owned both a PS4 and XBO within a year of launch, and despite having both consoles I literally used the Xbox more to update the firmware than play games on it. I played more Zelda: Breath of the Wild in the first week of having it than I did the Xbox One in its entire 7-year run without a word of exaggeration. I didn't care about the console wars because I was on both sides, if the Xbox got an exclusive like Rare Replay or Sunset Overdrive, I could play them and not care. It just so happened to be that the console only ever got like 5 or 6 games that I actually cared about in 7 years that I didn't get on other consoles. I liked Gears 4 and 5, I liked Sunset Overdrive and Rare Replay, and the MasterChief Collection/Halo 5 were both alright even if I never cared much for Halo. but that's basically it. I got Cuphead and The Ori games on Switch. simple as that. That's it for the entire duration of the console's life cycle, so it got next to no play.

So going into Gen 9, I knew what console I'd be getting first, maybe only. Xbox hasn't impressed me for this long and my marketplace is slow so I am pretty short on funds; as a result I have to make a choice. this generation I CAN'T afford both and I can't justify getting a 700+ dollar console for a handful of games. I could when I got the Xbox One, I can't now. (That is, assuming these bethesda games are going to be Xbox Exclusive going forward).

As a result, I feel the console war stirring within me! When I see my 'team' winning, I cheer. when the other team scores a goal, I boo. This is me booing. I'm honest enough with myself to admit that. The second I can afford an Xbox Series X or have enough disposable income to do so, I'll stop caring again because I win either way. Until that happens, I'm on a team and I hope that team wins because then I win through proximity by getting great games.

I bought a 360 last gen to play Bioshock and Mass Effect and didn't know they were timed exclusives. This is frankly huge. And for people who can only have one console, this isn't good. We can only hope they will release big games on other mutiplatform (on consoles).

As a fellow gamer, maybe try PC? If you can get past the hurdle of what is required to get into it and the initial cost, I feel its worth it. Funding two consoles is going to get expensive, especially with next gen price increase and more subs to pay.

So Microsoft are about to release a timed exclusive on PS5 in the form of deathloop. Nice!

And the amusing realization that all hype and sales coming from PlayStation will help Xbox bottom line.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Fine by me. Sony has to somewhat counterthis, lets see their sleeve.

The good thing about this deal, it forces pc gamers to use windows store :)

Guys , after clearing my mind and cooling my brain. I get the big picture. This acquisition might not bad after all and not bad for Sony at all. Microsoft are not trying to win console competition they trying to win subscription.

Buying Bethesda for 7 billion for winning console war is not good for shareholders, but buying them for subscription is good for shareholders. So i am sure all games will be available on PS console or Switch as well. Xbox still has small subscription compared to putting games on other platform.

So i can see some establish franchise will still be available on the future for other platform including PS platform.

Amazing news for xbox fans. Congrats on the acquisition. For FO and ES fans, not sure how this will effect you. I can see this going one of three ways:

1) studios are gutted for IPs and the talent eventually leaves. Games are now mostly gaas or A games made for gamepass.
2) nothing changes. MS gets either day one gamepass and or times exclusives. Rest still made and released as normal.
3) weaker franchises shut with layoffs due to corporate restructuring. Budgets realigned for gamepass which effect quality of the games as well content and how its delivered.

I know they're is a fourth option which is:

4) all games stay MS exclusive and no budget cuts, full haha with full budgets etc, but this is highly unlikely due to the direction MS is pushing for - making gamepass the office 365 of the gaming industry.

I dislike the 4th option as than when it's too little too late for everyone. I hope it's option 2 in some way shape or form.

Will read the defenses that Zenimax needed the money and that it is a good move unless it was made by Sony.

OP itself, I don`t play Bethesda games so even if all their games become first party I won`t miss a thing. Hope under MS they stop launching so much bug ridden games. And for the money paid I would say this is a much better purchase than Minecraft.

Does Sony have a reputation for lacking exclusive AAA games? If they did it it would be just widening the gap and is anti competition. Xbox is the one that has the stigma and needs the games boost. This more then evens the playing field. This is what happens when you keep poking the bear that happens to have more money then God ;)

Good thing is that they are very hands off with their buys. They provide money and security and let their teams do what they want. Games will probably take longer if MS isn’t imposing strict deadlines but at least the games will be creative as the devs intended.

I know these games don’t fall under “single player 3rd person story driven action adventure” that you are spoiled with but hey, they at least AAA single player games. That’s something right?

Sony already pays Microsoft for Azure. You should have said that Sony is funding Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda in parts.

That’s the spirit! Can’t think of everything. Too excited.

It doesn't force them they can still prop up the $$ and buy it on Steam.
