It sucks when Sony does it, too. Hell, I read an article a month or two ago where Sony supposedly went to every third party and demanded exclusive content for every multiplat. I'll likely own both consoles but this is kinda disgusting.

Usually when two platforms compete, the customer wins. It seems like all bets are off so both companies may potentially screw everyone that doesn't support their brand.

I'm only spending $120 a year on a seemingly ever expanding list of Gamepass games I would have bought for $60+ dollars each, saving hundreds of dollars a year. Anti consumer? This consumer will have more money in his bank account thanks to Microsoft buying these studios. At this rate, I hope Microsoft buys Nintendo (my preferred device). They could charge $50 a month then and I'd still save money lol. This is the golden age for consumers who want to save money!

MS buying Nintendo?

No... Now that would be going too far.

It's quite funny to see the double standard.

I remember how people were cheering when Sony acquired Insomniac. How that was an amazing move.
But when Microsoft does it everyone acts oh so concerned.

We need Nintendo to get in that game as well to complete the trifecta. Default reaction would probably be downplaying Nintendos aquisitions all the time lol.

No, I am really sorry. Buying a developer after your competitor buys up seven, is nowhere near the same caliber as buying 7 studios and then a major publisher. Any double standards that were present at the Insomniac acquisition pale in comparison to this abomination of a deal.

Anyone who pretends this is in any way shape or form a positive step does not see the icy slope in front of us. They literally bought 14 studios instead of building up new ones, or actually invest in fledging low-level devs. Microsoft clearly shows their intent to pretty much buy themselves into an industry without any creative or visionary input, and kill off any competition if possible. But hey, if you are fine with that then more power to you

Sony has done the same most of their 1st party studios weren't owned by them until the games they made were hits then sony scooped them up...now people can't say microsoft have no exclusives anymore because now the xbox brand have multiple AAA games

I've got a bad feeling about this.

Goodbye Doom on Nintendo systems. -_-

Microsoft allowed Ori and cuphead to come to the Nintendo Switch. If anything you should be glad that Bethesda was bought by Microsoft because a deal like Doom on Nintendo systems is just a good business deal for Microsoft.

Well this sucks. I'm not buying a 700+ CAD console for one game. My choices are to either not play a sequel to one of my all-time favourite games (Skyrim), or to pay a ludicrous amount of money to get a Console for one game (Since Microsoft has no goddamn games...apparently aside from Bethesda games, which I genuinely do like).

I could game on PC but I hate PC gaming, what with all the weird demands and expectations and factors that go into just running a game. do I have the right sound card? Video card? Controller? RAM? Processor? etc. Eh, I'll avoid that if I can. Cheaper to just buy an Xbox than get all the parts needed for that.

If you had a pc i could understand that you might think xbox has no games, but to have neither a pc or an xbox and say that is crazy.

I have a PC, it's just not a very good PC. Can play stuff like WoW fairly well but anything modern or high end it has to go on super low settings and even then it's kinda choppy.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

Will read the defenses that Zenimax needed the money and that it is a good move unless it was made by Sony.

OP itself, I don`t play Bethesda games so even if all their games become first party I won`t miss a thing. Hope under MS they stop launching so much bug ridden games. And for the money paid I would say this is a much better purchase than Minecraft.

Wouldn’t be a MS thread without you in it engaging in console warz.

What an insane event. Gotta wonder what it means for future Bethesda games and where they will release.

Could say it isn't a MS thread if you aren't praising then, and if you go and look I don't enter most of MS threads and most of the latest I was praising them.

But yes I do remember you among the ones that would say MS was just helping devs that were doing bad.

Of course they would, as they would need to break contract otherwise and considering they have some partnership with Sony that would be bad.

I hope this teaches sony a lesson about buying timed exclusives to keep xbox users from them they didn't need to keep us from the new final fantasy but they did so maybe microsoft should do the same with doom fallout and elder scrolls...

Guess you missed MS do time exclusives as well.

And this right here folks... is what you all should have really been afraid of when MS started their whole gamepas thing.

This is how you make a service like that viable. You acquire studios. An what would this mak sony do in turn? They would acquire some studies of their own to.

This is going to result in heavy consolidation.Lol... pro-consumer. How people didn't see stuff like this coming is beyond me.

MS is competing the only way they can, just simply buying the market lol.

Well, considering I will have A LOT more games to play on Game Pass, this is not concerning to me at all.

If anything the more likely scenario, albeit still not very likely if Xbox Series X is handled properly, is Microsoft cutting their losses with their IPs and selling certain ones to Nintendo.

MS would never sell any and Nintendo would never buy any.

Bethesda games aren't demanding. If you have a Graphics card from the past 6/7 years already it doesn't matter what you have it'll run the game.

I don't have a dedicated graphics card, sadly. My PC is relatively new and all, but still.

I want to get trophies. I'm sure everyone on this forum understands brand loyalty. I get most of my games on the Playstation series of consoles, I'd like to keep building my collection there if possible. There and the Nintendo.

Hmm... Are you referring to the likes of Banjo and Conker?

I could see MS releasing them on both Xbox and Switch. Why would they take value away from 1st party studious and game pass now?

Would be 7.5 billion steps forward, 2 steps back.

Ori just came out for the Switch a few days ago. Doom can still come out for Nintendo hardware.
