Forums - Gaming Discussion - Hogwarts Legacy announced (Open world RPG, PS4+5. XBoxOne +Series X, PC)

https://youtu.be/BsC-Rl9GYy0

Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books. Now you can take control of the action and be at the center of your own adventure in the wizarding world. Embark on a journey through familiar and new locations as you explore and discover fantastic beasts, customize your character and craft potions, master spell casting, upgrade talents, and become the wizard you want to be.

Experience Hogwarts in the 1800s. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. You have received a late acceptance to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and soon discover that you are no ordinary student: you possess an unusual ability to perceive and master Ancient Magic. Only you can decide if you will protect this secret for the good of all, or yield to the temptation of more sinister magic.

Discover the feeling of living at Hogwarts as you make allies, battle Dark wizards, and ultimately decide the fate of the wizarding world. Your legacy is what you make of it.

So, it's a Harry Potter game, but with no Harry Potter characters... Dunno how that's going to work out for them. Shadow of Mordor did an ok job (although that at least had some characters), but that was a generally exceptional game and the lore of LOTR is deeper and more interesting.

I'm so excited. I've always wanted a game like this. This is the chance for the series to make its unique mark as a major gaming franchise rather than shallow tie-in titles.

Please Watch/Share this video so it gets shown in Hollywood.

The biggest thing from yesterday's show case.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Looks great, i wasn't expecting this and now it's one of my most anticipated games. I'm also NOT a Harry Potter fan but this is everything i ever wanted from a Harry Potter game, the idea of exploring that world in an open world game is already worth the 60 or 70 bucks for me.

that's pretty much why this will work (or should at least).

The game doesn't have to be tied down to those characters, but it's obviously going to have some connections for pre-HP book collection.

I think the trailer was great. But unfortunately due to JK Rowling, I may only consider this for a discounted price.

Is that confirmed though? I wonder if there will be a young prof. McGonagall as a student or Dumbledore as a professor in his earlier tenure. He was like 150 years old when he got flung from that tower.

Why does the spelling of Mcgonagall look weird.... I had to google it to check

Got me hyped honestly and i'm definitely keeping my eyes on this one.

I'm surprised they aren't putting this on Switch as well tbh. Seems like the platform would take well to it.

Sounds really interesting. I like that it's set very much apart from the books/movies. Means they're more free to tell their own story and you won't know who's who or what's going to happen going into it. Plus it sounds like you'll have the option of turning evil, which could be pretty cool.

Yep, I agree. I loved the Harry Potter books but I feel those characters are all completely tapped out. Some new characters and a new more open story makes me more interested in this game and not less.

It will work out incredibly. Harry Potter lore and magic is something fans are super invested in, particularly the idea of being a hogwarts student with your own patronous etc. I mean there's a whole themepark based on it.

I'd argue Harry Potter lore immediately presents a more interesting and inviting universe for the average person versus LOTR which in modern age is comparably generic on the surface level because others have burrowed so much from it (war centric high fantasy), especially if we look at how its applied in games like Shadow of Modor.
