Forums - Sony Discussion - PS5 Showcase - Wednesday Sept 16

FFXVI will probably come out like in 2025 but I'm still interested to see if it'll really be at this event like the rumors say

MS reveal of the game gave the ilusion of full exclusivity. Phil stayed silent until he was pesterized with questions and confirmed it was timed (but didn't say the lenght) and SE wasn't allowed to say anything.

All the games Sony revealed from 3rd parties on the show had very clear information of timed exclusivity.

MS just prefered to use the most unclear information possible.

Phil doesn't really wan't transparency, he wants to have the information as favorable as possible for Xbox, so if he is the one saying he will omit, if other company is saying he will run to "clarify".

Just keep an eye on the news reported here, whenever there is a new about Playstation you'll certainly find something of MS commenting or competing, when there is a new about Xbox you won't see anything from Sony commenting on it.

I figured that’s just the corporate culture. In terms of communicating to the community, Xbox is at the top. Perhaps they are a little TOO talkative lol. Sony is in the middle. Long periods of silence but they eventually comment on pressing concerns sooner or later. Then you have Nintendo which doesn’t care about the community concerns...they literally say something when they deem necessary.

Just the cards we dealt with when we pick sides (shrugs)

Not really, Sony communicates about their plans and games, MS try to rob the spotlight from other companies, if you like it good for you. Their corporate culture is of mudding the water

Don`t forget Papa "good guy" Spencer with backhanded compliments and "me too" posts.

Someone’s gotta tell the public what games are multiplat and timed. It certainly won’t be Sony lol.

Thinking of Xbox showcases where they say off the bat “World Premiere” = multiplat or games that are timed. Very clear messaging. Sony just shows trailers without context of availability, and making people guess or assume they are exclusive when they are not is a little shady.

In this regard what Phil says after their conferences is a blessing. He is simply clearing up FUD but yes it also serves to take away some of the spotlight which I understand your frustration.

Please. E3 2017 MS introduced cuts of "Launch Exclusive" and "Xbox One Exclusive" at the start of each trailer, with an overhead voice booming 'Exclusive' every time. They also had 'World Preimere' just to muddy the waters even more. Far, far from clear. Media picked up on it as well.

Phil even had to clarify what was meant by the term.

Can't wait as well. Hope it cost less as its a weaker console. Pricing the same price with a competitot that has a stronger hardware won't go well

What do you think will happen if it's priced the same?

Sony was largely silent from Dec-June while Xbox was (at the time) giving a steady stream of positive PR and game announcements and console reveals. May showing being their first mistep. That was a dry spell for you guys and I’ll remind you and anyone who decides to forget that in the coming months.

That said, Sony’s strategy is more tactful, I’ll give them that. Silence but followed by strategic PR that hits harder as opposed to Xbox PR which is constant but can be more fluff then necessary. I stand by my “tier list” of PR with fans.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Seems clear to me. Launch exclusive = timed. Xbox Exclusive = Xbox and PC. World Premiere = Multiplat but first time you hear about this game.

Yes Sony didn`t made comments on MS constant PR and hyping.

Talking only about their own console and on very few occasions. Even like that MS and Phil couldn`t allow Sony to have that moment of talking for themselves, they needed to go there and try to get some exposition as well.

For this reason we mock the reveal of XSX getting a small fraction of reactions than the simple showing of PS5 logo. I bet Phil gets very frustrated with it.

There's a lot more to performance than Strength. for example, an iPhone is nowhere near as 'powerful' as a Samsung Galaxy phone, yet it performs at neatly identical levels due to optimization and good programming on apple's part.

I hate iPhone, this is just the facts.

The way they're explaining the PS5 is that, while it lacks the raw processing power of the Xbone, it performs on par or better due to the SSD. Plus the brand recognition matters. I could see Sony being more expensive than Microsoft this gen but getting away with it.
