I hope they'll only show off titles that release in the launch window and not CGI for something years away from release (like FF16 probably is).

They could have both. As long as there is a good number of good titles they can mix launch window and later releases.

This. If they want to hype people for their console, why not go all out announcing a few big hitters like GoW 5 to remind people what’s coming in the more distant future?

Don`t forget Papa "good guy" Spencer with backhanded compliments and "me too" posts.

Someone’s gotta tell the public what games are multiplat and timed. It certainly won’t be Sony lol.

Thinking of Xbox showcases where they say off the bat “World Premiere” = multiplat or games that are timed. Very clear messaging. Sony just shows trailers without context of availability, and making people guess or assume they are exclusive when they are not is a little shady.

In this regard what Phil says after their conferences is a blessing. He is simply clearing up FUD but yes it also serves to take away some of the spotlight which I understand your frustration.

Yes sure... Just like Phil Spencer was very front with Tomb Raider exclusivity deal right?

Or there was a very big need to clarify that Xbox had a very good SSD.

Or there was a need to confirm UE5 was available on XSX.

Or that Destiny was going to Xbox.

There are so many examples of him going out of his way to try and bath in the spotlight of others that it is shameless. It is always he crying wolf when others do the practices his company was doing until they didn`t got leverage for it anymore... I`m certain he was in a urge to tell when the new Yakuza was going to show on Playstation. Owww he didn`t, neither did Sony. Because Sony respects the agreements MS got and only talk about their own stuff.

I forgot what Phil said about Tomb Raider, but I’m pretty sure nobody believed Xbox got full exclusivity. It was timed and we all knew it. There was a big need to clarify the Xbox SSD, Sony (and their fans) made it seem like their SSD came from God himself. There was a VERY big need to clarify that yes, many Xbox Studios use UE for their games and no, Sony studios do not in fact use UE much at all. Destiny Sony marketing rights all but made the Xbox version non existent to the general gaming public.

Hey he ain’t perfect but he’s doing a service. Sony is by far much more vague when they show gaming trailers in terms of platform availability.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Console launch exclusive after console launch exclusive, the fancy new name for timed exclusive, but lets muddy the waters by changing the name, and people are trying to call Sony out from the Xbox camp. Best of luck with that one......

MS reveal of the game gave the ilusion of full exclusivity. Phil stayed silent until he was pesterized with questions and confirmed it was timed (but didn't say the lenght) and SE wasn't allowed to say anything.

All the games Sony revealed from 3rd parties on the show had very clear information of timed exclusivity.

MS just prefered to use the most unclear information possible.

Phil doesn't really wan't transparency, he wants to have the information as favorable as possible for Xbox, so if he is the one saying he will omit, if other company is saying he will run to "clarify".

Just keep an eye on the news reported here, whenever there is a new about Playstation you'll certainly find something of MS commenting or competing, when there is a new about Xbox you won't see anything from Sony commenting on it.

What? Its not SONY's job to inform the public on games coming to other products. You'd be a terrible sales agent.

True, but I like how relatively forthright they are. Xbox always does everything it can to make it sound like games are Xbox Exclusives, and they're not. that's what upset people about Microsoft's strategy. That's why people keep poking fun at what they do but not Sony.

I didn't even know Final Fantasy VII Remake was a timed exclusive. I literally tried looking up a copy on Xbox One for a friend of mine because I didn't realize it had any exclusivity at all. To be fair, that was just ignorance on my part, but it shows how different the companies are. one HAS exclusives and confidence in said exclusives so they don't have to shove it down your throat. The other lacks exclusives and thus needs to twist the definition and trick people into believing things that aren't fully true. It reeks of desperation.

I don't even know if I'm arguing with you or supporting you, to be honest. I just thought this was a good time to say what I felt about the situation.

If you look at the PS5 reveal you`ll see that every third party title announced either wouldn`t say it have any exclusivity (so it is multiplat) or say First on PS5 or Console Launch exlcusivity or equivalent to temporary exclusivity or would say console exclusive if it would be permanent (like SF V).

Thank you. It’s not their job. Therefore it falls on Phil to clarify for Xbox gamers.

I figured that’s just the corporate culture. In terms of communicating to the community, Xbox is at the top. Perhaps they are a little TOO talkative lol. Sony is in the middle. Long periods of silence but they eventually comment on pressing concerns sooner or later. Then you have Nintendo which doesn’t care about the community concerns...they literally say something when they deem necessary.

Just the cards we dealt with when we pick sides (shrugs)
