The DCEU hasn't done much for me. DC films outside it like Joker resonate much more with me and this seems to follow suit. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect and I'm still getting used to Pattinson in the cape and cowl but by the end of the trailer I had a big stupid grin on my face. One commenter described it as 'Batman meets Se7en' and I love it. Don't want to get my hopes too high but I'm looking forward to a film take on the character that finally emphasizes The World's Greatest Detective and The Riddler will be perfect for it. The action and cinematography look promising too.

What do you guys think?

EDIT: Discussion continues with the new trailer!

The Bat appears to have another banger on his hands! Sounds like everything I hoped it would be. Can't wait to see for myself this weekend!

Just to be clear, I understand much like Joker, this one is not related to the DCEU.

I thought it was good. It does its job as a trailer well. The Riddler portrayed in a serious way is a great main antagonist, and Ive always defended Pattison in the role because he is better than people give him credit for. Again, I liked it, but after Suicide Squad I kinda distrust WB's trailers. So it remains to be seen if its any good, but its a good first impression.

They rebooted the Crow I see.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

One of the ,still rare, times a Nirvana song is used to to promote a movie/game/whatever. I gave it a like. Although, Batman was pretty mean to that one guy. With all we know about post concussion syndrome and CTE, I was hoping we'd finally get a Batman movie where he's a bit more conscious of head trauma. C'mon Hollywood.

Looks great. Dark and gritty like it should be.

Great first impressions, I think Pattinson is going to prove a lot of people wrong, he's going to kill it!

After picking Pattinson for the role, I think this was the type of movie people expected. Less superhero blockbuster, more detective mystery thriller. This'll hopefully shed more light on the younger Batman/Bruce and the effects of his lingering childhood trauma. Looking forward to it.

2020 ain't so bad after all.

My first impressions are that I don't want Batman continuing to beat the tar out of some guy after already subduing him. That isn't the work of a good guy, but a nutcase with anger issues. I don't want an edgy Batman like he's in the Watchmen.

The bat mobile looks really cool. Yeah the movie looks great for now.
