Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One X and Xbox One S Digital Edition Will No Longer be Manufactured

Sounds good to me. Get rid of the clutter. 1 last gen sku is enough.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I see a lot of people having that mindset for the PS4 as well. The PS4 Pro could very well be discontinued this year, and the PS4 Slim will likely get its price slashed to $199.99. Depending on PS5 pricing, even $249.99 might be too steep for a PS4 Slim.

The Xbox One S might be discontinued late this year or early next year. The Xbox 360 made sense to keep in production until early 2016. After all, the Xbox One didn't have backwards compatibility at first, and the Xbox 360 sold a lot in its lifetime. But with the backwards compatibility being as strong as it is for the Series X, the Xbox One's days are numbered.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 151 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 57 million (was 60 million, then 67 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Yep there isn`t much reason to keep Pro around by the time PS5 releases.

If the Lockhart is real, it makes sense to discontinue the Scorpio. A 4TF Lockhart would be seen as weaker than a 6TF Scorpio by those who don’t know any better. Also the Lockhart needs to be pretty cheap.

Will be interesting to see what they price the Xbone S at.

Even without Lockhart it makes sense to discontinue Scorpio, it is a premium product with high cost of manufacture. For low price they have X1 for best performance they have XSX, Lockhart can certainly be the middle ground while X1 still exist but even without it X1X wouldn`t make much sense due to price by performance.

Xbox One X only lasted two years and a half. That's only a few more months than the Dreamcast, damn.

Well that's because Sega kept producing the Dreamcast S and were getting ready to launch their 7th gen console.

Then MS would have to explain to the plebs what the Lockhart can actually do.

Many might not even care. "Its cheap and plays all the games? Good enough."

Thats exactly why I thought the One X was a weird release.

I suspect this is the last time we see a late gen update that doesn't transition into entry level next gen system.

If anything, they will probably reconsider how a mid gen upgrade is handled. Its a fantastic console but likely expensive to produce. I thought a redesign might happen to make it cheaper, but a Series S would be even better than that.

If you want a premium console, buy a Xbox Series console. If you want budget hardware (maybe $149-199), get a Xbox One S.

Also, we still need a 9th gen upgrade to really hit that 8K target.

On a side note, many retailers seem to be out of stock. I am seeing price gouging on Xbox hardware, which is surprising.

I wonder if they were losing too much money on the Xbox one X.

I would guarantee it. Especially when there were sales for between $300-$350. Also they sold some for $199.99 through their online store back in late winter.
