And I've had first hand experience with most of those you mentioned and many problems lol. Not a good track record. Not saying Linux or Apple is better, nightmare pairing an iPhone with iTunes on Windows or even using an iPhone 11.
What I am saying is, keep all that crap away from the console experience.

I never went with iPhone for very long, I'm an android guy and absolutely no problem with my S7's onward, it's just plug and play. Microsoft is also a lot more open about its approach to software and it's for the better. Examples are office being on iphone and android, the new surface using Android, Windows 10 being free.
Microsoft is really changing as a company. I used to hate them with a passion, but now I see that their direction and philosophy is changing, and I can also see it in Phil's discourse. I think that it's fantastic for gamers for this simple reason: it makes things more accessible.
I'm for free software, free as in liberated. I know that MS is heading in a digital direction and that is the opposite direction, but they are not going all digital, it is still a hybrid offering, and hopefully players like you will require it stay that way. And while I love the convenience of watching my movies on Netflix once in a while, I'm sad that I can't rent some good old repertoire movies like I used to, or that some movies I used to have on the service are now removed. I see it from both sides, not one or the other, but the truth is that everyone is going in a digital direction, and that includes Nintendo and Sony. It's up to the players to make sure our rights over what we own is respected. But offering options to the player still doesn't violate that need, so imho it should not be kept away but rather embraced. It's a good thing for players to have different options to buy the console, in a case where they can't spit the cash out up front, or if they want to pay over a subscription rather than committing to the limited purchase of certain titles. I could go on but what I'm seeing from MS right now is only good stuff, especially the push for new and more diverse gaming experiences than even Sony. This kind of options in offering is only a good thing for the industry.

As usual completely ignoring VR.... You can't seriously mean that after MS never coming through on supporting VR on XBox One X. Is MS even still supporting their mixed reality headsets? What happened to their AR headset, Minecraft on your coffee table, and lightroom or whatever it was called.
What more diverse gaming experiences did you have in mind?
My experience with MS still isn't very positive. From my laptop not willing to turn the screen off when a DS4 is charging, FH4 not just not supporting the DS4 but not even working when a DS4 is charging on my laptop. I caved in and bought a wired 360 controller for Ori, FH4 and Crack down ($1 for game pass, $30 for a controller that is actually supported lol) To windows 10 deciding it has to reboot at night and I find all my work gone in the morning and have to go through a mandatory Edge introduction (killed it with task manager).
Anyway the move to digital has nothing to do with supporting everything under the sun. I bought Tlou2 digitally (will get physical edition some other time) due to the pandemic. And even that has issues between base and pro ps4. (At least I've heard of glitches during cut scenes, haven't seen any myself on the pro)
But you're right their direction is changing, going head to head with Google, Amazon and embracing Facebook gaming. Then there's one game I would gladly subscribe to xCloud for, yet it's not coming to xCloud? Flight simulator seems to be the perfect candidate for streaming, not relying of fast (observable) movement, 2 peta bytes of ever changing real world data to work with, input latency doesn't matter, and you would be able to see everyone else flying around. That would be a new gaming experience, real time weather, real time traffic, up to date world scenery, jump to any place in the world without having to download gigabytes of detailed data each time.
