The game was fully marketed as being only about the Midgar parts, it’s explicitly stated so in the online stores’ description of the game, as well as written on the back cover of the game.

I love the accusations that TLOU2 and FFVIIR marketing are deceiving and how they justify the viewpoint.

You dont think what ND did to TLOU2 was deceiving? Thats impressive

Very much untrue. Even more at western world where most products are made with sequels in mind and even have several hints and threads left in the original to go for a sequel. We have had cases of producers saying they had several sequels already in plan. Sure the execution will depend on the product having success, but that doesn't mean it wasn't planned for a sequel.

Only people that completely ignored all information regarding FFVIIR would think like that because SE was crystal clear from the beginning that they would only tell Midgar on this entry and have told so for over 3 years. And we live in a world with internet and reviewers. So one need to be purposely ignoring it.

Bolded the key word that you skipped. Because zero of what I said even hinted at the idea that sequels aren't planned, just that they aren't guaranteed. That and many sequels tell different stories to the original rather than carrying on an overarching narrative.

The original ff7 was insanely popular it's not crazy to think that plenty of people might impulse buy The remake without knowing much about it. I know a few who did. I don't get why you are so defensive of this, putting part 1 or episode 1 on the cover isn't going to hurt anyone is it?

This is getting off topic. Please just admit that I might have little bit of a point here, what I'm saying isn't crazy or controversial. You don't need to always disagree with everything I say just for the sake of it.

Do you know that FFVIIR also aren`t guaranteed right? The game could have sold very bad and canned. Even if they started making the rest of FFVIIR while the first was still in production that doesn`t make the other parts less likely to be cancelled midway.

In the very box of the game it says the game doesn`t cover the whole story of the original. You and several others are just nitpiking on everything on FFVIIR to try and make a case.

Nope, what was deceiving? Because having some scenes on trailer that is not in the game isn`t being deceptive. Just look at the PSN review that have been steady on 4.5/5.

But please develop on how they were deceiving.

You are impossible to have a reasonable discussion with.

Every time we speak you just dismiss anything I say as nitpicks. Just because these issues don't affect you doesn't mean they don't matter to other people. Anyway this doesn't have anything to do with the quality of the game itself. It is just a little issue that I have. If it doesn't bother you fine, but it bothers me and other people and if you can't deal with that, that is you problem.

At this point if you can't admit that then don't speak to me anymore because I'm done with you.

There you go

Spoiler!

The trailers are made in a way to give you the impression you are going to play with Joel along with you, at least a portion of the game just like old times. But apart from flashbacks, they mostly do not meet in game.

- The first trailer where Joel walks into a house where Ellie has killed a lot of people and she is playing the guitar and she says "Im going to kill all of them".

- There is another one where Ellie is talking to Joel and he says "there is a price to be paid". They swapped the models to give you the impression it happens in the present, with Joels by your side. In game, the model used is of Joel 5 years younger as of course, the scene happen in a flashback.

- The amazing scene in the trailers that everyone cheered, Joel reaches Ellie from behind (ops...) and says "think I would let you do it on your own?" to make you think Joel is coming along for the ride, in game is actually Jesse, nicknamed now as Asian Joel.

There are two more I cant remember right now. It was on purpose and I truly believe this is awful as people hold the first game deep in their hearts.

This is even more deceiving than Kojima on MGS2 and can't even be compared with FF7 which in my opinion wasnt deceiving, they just needed to include an Ep1 on the cover of the game.

To be fair, we will know only in the future but I believe this game had a big story redesign not long ago, as the co-writer already stated she had a fight with Drunkmann for 6 months to swap the destiny of two characters.

And didn`t say no one bought without knowing the game was part of planned series, still that is a very small portion of people that just ignored all the information. Only someone that just happened to be on the store and felt the urge to buy without even reading the box or any single information, that is such a small issue that saying SE was being manipulative or unclear is strange.

I dont think it is, at the very least you are often dissmissive of everything i say.

When did I say manipulative. Read what I say, not what you think I say. You do this all the time, you say that I mean something that I never said.

If some people are going to make that mistake surely they might as well put a part 1 on there so no one will make that mistake. Billions of people out there don't pay a lot of attention to gaming news. I know 3 people that bought the game because they saw ff7 on the shelf and were like cool I played that as a kid.

Just admit that it couldn't hurt or Tell me what issues will putting part 1 on the box cause?

Would have zero issue to put a 1 on the cover, but again you were explained why almost never you`ll see a number one in basically any media product even when it was sure it would get a sequel from the start. And again the box have the information that it is part of the story.

Have you played Soul Reaver? It didn`t had a 1 on the cover or any information similar to that (even though it was Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver, so if internet existed at the time we would know that it pertained to the Legacy of Kain series), the game end with just a screen "continue on Playstation 2".

From people I know the total of people that played it would be 3 if I included myself and they knew the game was part of the original, both anedoctes are really nothing. And saying Billion of people don`t follow gaming is very strange since actually only under 200M care at all about gaming.

So I have no idea why you are upset over not only me but most not thinking they needed to include a number, episode (although they said it was episodic and later corrected since the idea of episodes was short games) or midgar (which would serve to only people that played the original).

I grabbed the back of my FF7r game case to see what it says. "The story of the first, standalone game in the FINAL FANTASY 7 remake project covers up to the party's escape from midgar...(and more)".

Or I can go to their website https://ffvii-remake.square-enix-games.com/en-us

Or the Digital copy https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP0082-CUSA07211_00-FFVIIREMAKE00000

Website, physical, digital - three places.

If you some how avoid it - you weren't looking for it.

I've already said I'm talking about people that are impulse buying, that just see ff7 on the shelf and go cool I played that as a kid. If anything you proved my point you obviously missed what I said.
