thats what you call lost momentum

Xbox One was selling at a greater pace than X360 and PS3 before the removal to Kinect and price cut.

i fail to see the relevance with comparing with the previous consoles

but ill go with it quite logical ps3 didn't do well because it was viewed as an "overpriced console" you can thank japanesegameslover for this quote and the xbox360 was known for the RROD

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

If X360 and PS3 managed to sell 85M+ with a lower momentum then we can't say the correction of the price on X1 was to late due to moment. X1 sold for less than X360 most of the gen aligned and still barely crossed 50M.

i still fail to see the relevance of comparing with the previous consoles, neither did i refer to their momentum as lower, just their sales.

momentum=/=sales even if closely related

Consumers vote with their wallets.  PS3's best sales years came after a number of price cuts.

Play Station has proven that it can sell as expensive. As i said, only Sony can get away by selling an overpriced product, the competition has no such capacity, as the record has shown. And the price of console should not judged on the console alone. PS5 deserves to be sold at 499$ or even 599$. PS4 never had big price cut and yet it is still the best-selling home console weekly in Europe, after full 7 years. PS4 is sold for 299 Euros and at launch it was sold for 399 Euros. So, only 99 euros difference since its 2013 launch. So, it seems customers dont vote with their wallers, but based on brand loyalty. And the customers will surely choose PS5, regardless of price.

I'm not sure why you are arguing that the PS5 could have stellar sales at $599 and using PS4 selling at $299 as your support?  By the way, if consumers voted on brand loyalty alone, where did the 153 million PS2 owners go when it came time to buy a PS3?  Did 70 million PS2 owners just skip playing video games the entire 7th gen?  Or did they game on other, cheaper alternatives since Nintendo and Microsoft both noticeably more than tripled their hardware sales from the previous gen?

It just shows that it wasn't a problem of momentum or tardiness to due the price cut. They had 5 years to "recover" momentum. Previous gen PS3 were able to accelerate from much lower and worse momentum.

PS5 is going to dominate XBSX more than PS4 dominating XB1

PS4 LTD : 130 million
XB1 LTD: 60 million

People keep making the mistake of acting like the new gen is a fresh slate. Its not. Those 130 million PS4 users are going to be more inclined to go PS5 simply due to the PSN compatabillity. Same for XB1 but the key difference is how can either side attract the other side?

Playstations first party is far far stronger than XB so I see more XB1 users going to PS5 than PS4 users going to XBSX. The hardcore audience is relatively stable:

PS2+GC+XB = 200 million
PS3+360 = 180 million
PS3+360+Wii = 280 million
PS4+ WiiU+XB1 (projected LTD) = 205 million
PS4+XB1 = 190 million

I have to agree. The Xbox decline dint start in 2013. It started in 2010 when the exclusive lineup almost completely disappeared.

I don't think its price we have to worrie about. Unless its something drastic like the ps3, it should be almost no issue. The only info we really need is what games do xbox has still to anounce.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

Of course PlayStation will win against Xbox. That's like a battle between Coca-Cola and Pepsi. Sure, Pepsi sells here and there, but to most people only Coke is "the real deal". It's the same with Playstation when it comes to gaming.

Especially in japan and europe. Xbox basically doesn't sell at all there. So poor Xbox only has the US. I'm sure It Will do fine, but It simply doesn't have any Chance at all to reach Playstation levels of sales.

Nintendo will outsell both PS5 and XSX combined though.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

I really doubt that XSX will outsell PS5. That being said I do see the gap shrinking from XBO vs PS4 and I forsee MS taking back certain markets like the US and UK.

That make no sense, 2011 was the best year 360 ever had and 2012 was as good as 2009/2008
