I am buying all my PS5 games digitally. Nevertheless I plan on buying the PS5 with the disc drive even though it is uglier and likely costlier. I just want the option of using physical media including for my backwards compatible PS4 games and movies. Options have value.

Ill get the all digital edition even if they are the same price and the digital one has a larger HD, its been like 4 years since I last put a disc into my PS4, I definetly don't need to have my PS5 disc enabled.

Not a chance. Physical games are cheaper than digital.

Plus, I have DVDs. If I don't have a disk drive in my console then I'd need to buy a separate DVD player, that'd be stupid.

Sometimes physical games can become more expensive even within current generation.  Diablo 3 on switch I believe went down to 30 new at one point on Amazon.  You can't get it under 47 used right now.  I know they probably didn't crank out a ton of copies for game but right now physical even used is more expensive than the eShop sale price.

The less produced games seem to always jump in price unless the game is trash.  However most of the times you can find good deals on physical games new or used.

No. I've got 2 4K TVs and i've been collecting UHD Blurays for some time now, expecting to get a disc player in the form of a console at some point. Also I have several PS4 games on disc that I don't own via the PS Store and would like to pack away the PS4p once I get a PS5.

Even though I intended to keep my PS4p, I would; sell it to help pay for the premium price of the PS5w/BRdrive rather than; keep it and try to save $100 bucks via the PS5 DigitalEdition and just keeping the PS4 hooked up as well.

No considering I have a huge backlog of PS4 physical games, and hope many of them are backwards compatible.

If Sony tweet after the GDC video is beliveable (they haven`t fully tested all) most of the 4000 titles should be BC.

Nope. I rent a lot of physical games through GameFly. Saving $100 on hardware would not even come close to offsetting what I’d lose by having to buy every game that interests me at full price. Only way I’ll ever consider a digital only console, is if there is some kind of digital game rental system in place, something like $5 for 3 days, $10 for 7 days, $15 for 30 days on full price $60 games, less for cheaper games.

Hey just so you know in Brazil people sell digital licenses (for choose between primary or secondary) and also rent licenses.

$100? Sure. During the holidays, that would be a cheap next gen console.

However it would have to be $100 cheaper than my ideal price. So in your example, $499 PS5 is a heck no, and a $399 PS5 digital console is also a heck no.

$399 PS5 and $299 PS5 digital console is fair to me, and I would choose the $299 console.

You will need to wait for over 2 years after release to see this price you want.

I am probably going to buy an XB first next gen, because I love Halo. That'll mean I'll want a PS5 probably about two years in, so that I can play the exclusives. At that point, if I feel like the XB will remain as my primary console, I'll probably get the digital PS5. But, if I think there is any chance that the PS5 might become my primary console, I'll buy the one with the drive.

I don't care about physical media for the sake of having a disk and case to hold in my hand. But, I do like to have the ability to resell my games. So, wherever most of my gaming will take place, I want to have a disk drive.

Well you can play Halo on X1 or PC.

What if the digital edition is the same price but double the storage?🤔

I am sure BF and holidays will have value deals before that.
