Forums - Sales Discussion - March NPD 2020 Thread: Switch > 1 million

Switch did insane numbera. Probably sold 3m+ ww in the month of March.
PS and Xbox did quite well too.

Xbox one is going to end up over 50 millions it's really not that bad tbh.
It's only the fact it is sandwiched between the PS4 and the Switch, 2 beasts.

Edit : Just looked at the new estimates and now Switch would have had a week over 1 million WW in March. That's beyond legendary omg. Really curious to see the sales going foward with the big production increase.

Well, because it's sold below cost.

Xbox one was not a failure like the PSvita and the Wii U.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Agreed with the above. Xbox One was really just a middling performance. People that try to act like it was a disaster on the tier of Wii U or Vita are just exaggerating. Still the fact remains that it absolutely got pummeled by the real winners of the gen PS4 and Switch.

Woah at the numbers

Will update the thread soon!

i'm watching Benji's live on youtube and :
-Confirms Switch sold over 1 million in March
-Switch's April 2020 on track to be the biggest for any console yet this generation

Crazy seeing it is literally in low low stock. Maybe they are shipping a lot but they just sold out immediately ? Maybe the sales ramped up a lot last week with the arrival of new shipments ? We'll get a sneek-peak tomorrow with Japanese sell i guess.

Interesting stuff. Seems like it won't stop for March and if April manage to be that big with still demand not close to be met, i fear May and June will both be pretty insane as well. That alone will put the Switch in a safe spot for a new peak year.

I dont think anyone is actually saying it's a failure on the tier of the Wii U or Vita. But all things considered it's a failure compared to expectations and probably did not make it's money back in the end.

SWI - 907,000+ (2020)
SWI - 906,000 (2017)
GBA - 838,000 (2003)
Wii - 721,000 (2008)
DS - 701,000 (2010)
DS - 698,000 (2008)
Wii - 601,000 (2009)
DS - 563,000 (2009)
Wii - 557,000 (2010)
DS - 509,000 (2007)

Wow.  Really puts the whole "Nintendo only moves significant amounts of hardware as Christmas presents for kids" myth into perspective.

Or the "Nintendo always peaks early" myth

Not a myth at all. Nintendo systems have so many cases of sharp drop off.
