Forums - Gaming Discussion - Best and worst DLC.

The best story DLC's I've played were Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep in Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, and Witcher 3 Blood and Wine. Worst, I'm not sure really. I've played a few story DLC's that were real duds, way too short, but off the top of my head I'm having a hard time thinking which of them were the worst.

New Super Luigi U was amazing. Is Alan Wake: American Nightmare a DLC too? If so, it was great as well. Oh, and I enjoyed Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon more than the original game.

I don't like any kind of DLC at launch. Itens, Weapons, Visual... If it's ready to go, then just add it to the main game and make it an unlockable. Geez...

And I also don't like whatever the heck Capcom did to Street Fighter V.

From what I've played.

The best.
FFXIV patch updates, and expansions.

The Worst.
Final Fantasy XV: all of it.

Oh yeah, I forgot about RDR’s Undead Nightmare DLC, that was pretty great.

Bestest. Shovel Knight extra campaigns, New Super Luigi U, Mario Kart 8.

Worstest. 3DS Fire Emblem, Atelier games. Any RPG that locks costumes behind paid DLC, really hate that with the more recent Tales of games.

Monster Hunter iceborne and Witcher 3 blood and wine were the best for me this gen.

In recent years...

Mario Kart 8 was great. 50% extra game for 12 bucks... amazing deal.
Bloodborne: The Old Hunters was a great expansion worth every penny.
Shovel Knight is like... unreal. They didn't need to give us so much... but they did anyway.
Donkey Kong Adventure in Mario + Rabbids was an insanely good expansion
Torna: The Golden Country is pretty much a full on game disguised as a DLC expansion. And in some aspects it's even better than the main adventure. Also, we got a ton of new content for the base game
Splatoon and Splatoon 2 spent years giving people free updates with weapons, maps, game modes, events and more. And Splatoon 2 got a nice (paid) story expansion

That's the good. The bad...

Both Smash Bros. Ultimate and Smash Bros. 4 have awful DLC. I don't care how much it costs to make new characters and stages. 25 dolars for a 6,6% increase in overall content is ridiculous. And Smash 4 was even worse, with the pack with all characters costing 35 dolars. 35. Wow.

Zelda Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass was not bad in terms of content. But it is bad to lie to people. They promised "a new original story". I don't know what Nintendo understands by that... but what we got was not a new original story. And I'm very disappointed with Nintendo for that.

Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass will be massively disappointing as well. I know, I'm saying things I can't prove yet. And if I'm wrong I will eat my words, I promise. But I strongly believe that they will give people like... a few hours worth of content. Like... twice the Delta Episode duration at best. And then all what will be left is catching the new Pokémon and go back to the competitive aspect of the game. All for 30 bucks. And then people will miss a well made third version (not like US/UM).

Worst: The TES: Oblivion Horse Armor. It gave publishers way too many bad ideas about monetisation

Best: Mario Kart 8. Practically doubled the game for peanuts.

Not gona lie, op post is triggering me a bit, we talking about the worst DLC and op calls it decent and more of the same, more of the same is not that bad since the game is a blast to play and you could just play the DLC for the story and not bother with the other repetitive shit. Putting Spiderman DLC in the same spot as the câncer that was mass effect 3 online DLC , somenthing that kicked the loot boxes fever and helped Change the industry for the worst. And There is a shit ton of examples of shit DLC this GEN that the ONLY purporse is to suck the money of your wallet, or shit like horse armor or every shit released for that last fallout game etc.

Best DLCs ever was for masseffect2 , everything was fucking good. From software games DLCs are superb always and the Witcher 3 DLC was top tier.

Don't know if I agree with the Spider-Man DLC but then I look at my own experience. I pre-ordered the deluxe version and, to the day, I haven't finished the DLC and have no desire to do so. I DO want to replay the main story, though.

My vote for worst DLC goes to Magna Carta 2 on the Xbox 360. Why?

-You can't get 100% Achievements in the game without it. Most games that I know of let you get 1000gs and any DLC is extra. Without this DLC I think the most you can get is like 800gs.

-It's horrible. It adds absolutely nothing to the game. Instead you get these comedy "skits" and all you do is watch them. You ever play a JRPG where two characters just talk back and forth but it's just pictures of the characters in front of a background? That's it. That's what you pay money for and you get Achievements just for watching them...but I didn't watch them. They were so bad, I skipped them and still got the Achievements.
