Hey Numberwang, don't you think he's being racist? True mystery why I'd take issue with that.

Classic trolling pattern. As per the site rules, I am requesting that you not interact with me. Also do not talk sideways at me by quoting someone else's response to reply to me indirectly. Thank you kindly <3

"5. Any user has the right to request that you stop contacting them for any reason (be it in a PM, on their personal wall, or in the forums). If you continue to contact them, you will most likely find yourself moderated. Respect their wishes and move on."

No. And nobody said anything about vax pass. Not interested in your concern trolling.

I'm not sure why asking serious questions to numberwang here was a problem. If concern for your fellow man is trolling then I find that quite concerning, especially considering how many here seem concerned for others at this time, and rightly so. I for one take everyone's claims as genuine, unless they obviously or eventually give me enough reason to believe otherwise. That's just me though. Everyone see's the world differently.

I will no longer be interacting with you going forward as you've requested, but it's only right for me to explain this misunderstanding as I now understand it, as it seems you're extremely offended and this should be cleared up.

I do not think you're racist. What I did question (to numberwang) was whether or not the POC vaxing link, along with the NY vax pass, was in itself.

The reason I replied to numberwang's original post and not your reply to them, was because I didn't care about anything they may have been implying towards yourself. I only cared about the link in which was about POC vaxing and how that would be of concern with the strict vax pass instated there.

You then inserted yourself into this new direction which wasn't directed at you (though you had every right to join the convo), and while I didn't realize it at the time, it now seems you believed I was trolling you. I figured you may have meant general trolling of the POC vaxing link and it's tie to the vax pass issue, or maybe you just didn't like me talking about that issue in here. That would be leaning towards politics and this is a covid thread, so that could make sense.

The fact is, as implied in a prior post (above), I wasn't trolling and was making a serious point towards numberwang, considering this isn't an unreasonable concern based on what's taken place there, at least from my point of view. Hence why I formed it as a question to another. As I've also already stated prior, not everyone see's the world the same and this misunderstanding illustrates that, unfortunately.

Hopefully this clears things up.

Unless you let me know otherwise, again, I'll cease all interactions with you going forward. I won't be asking the same from you though. Feel free to interact with me if you so choose.

Alright, I'll chalk it up to a misunderstanding. Bear in mind that the post showed up as blue in my forum buddy, indicating that I was being quoted. And because Wang's post was obviously in bad faith, maybe I just lumped you together. We're cool for now.

They had replied to you, but I hadn't gone through the entire back conversation to know exactly what was going on between you two. Perhaps I should've removed you entirely to avoid any potential confusion at all based on what took place prior. I wasn't expecting there to be any to begin with which is why I didn't bother. Going forward I'll remove any unnecessary parties based on my directed point in future posts.

Glad that's cleared up. No point in allowing a bridge to burn for a minor mistake or misunderstanding.

Another day, another anti-vaxxer Darwin award, except this time, it's from a guy ODing on that horse dewormer that one guy ITT told us is supposed to be more effective for battling Covid:

Well, THAT didn't take long, did it?

I'm trying, but I'm finding it REALLY hard to feel bad for these idiots at this point, especially when I read about shit like this:

Why should a cancer patient be discharged and left to die for anti-vaxxer nutjobs? They chose not to get vaccinated and reap what they sow, a cancer patient doesn't choose to get cancer.

The anti-vaxxers have so much blood on their hands, they're practically swimming in it at this point.

What a waste of space! I sure hope I'm not paying for this with my Medicare/Medicaid payroll taxes. People like that should just be allowed to die. These anti-vax assholes are the reason I still have to wear masks every day to work despite being long-since vaccinated. I'm tired of it. I'm tired of their selfishness. I'm tired of making sacrifices for worthless ingrates who don't appreciate anything that's done for them. I say just let them die. If you're vaccinated, you're pretty damn safe from them. Why should anyone, let alone a cancer patient, have to give up anything for these idiots who are making a free choice to put themselves at this risk at the expense of the rest of us? Let 'em die! They want to? Let' em die! The world will be a better place with fewer people like them in it.

What about the obese, diabetics, smokers, drug abusers, drinkers who also refuse to stop harming themselves?  They are also being selfish and consuming hospital space and resources by making their free choices and denying it to the vaccinated.  Refuse treatment to them assholes as well?  What about people with opposite viewpoints, can they be denied treatments as well?

Death to them all! I'm tired of all these non-conforming pricks consuming my tax dollars!  The world would be a better place with only perfect people like me.

Smoking, drug abusers and drinkers are all most likely addictions. Obesity can be caused by food addictions too, diabetics are shit out of luck, I wouldn't call any of them selfish Tbh and a few of them aren't exactly 'free' choices when it comes to addiction, they need help.

Refusing to take a vaccine is not an addiction, it's fully, 100%, your own choice, made under sound mind, it's a selfish choice way more than any of those examples listed above, now I don't think they should be left to die but I do think the vaccinated, cancer patients, etc, should be given priority over them when it comes to hospital treatment which includes medication, bed space, etc.

Can't have the hospitals endlessly slammed because some folk selfishly refuse to get vaccinated, cancer patients definitely deserve priority over someone who actively refuse the vaccine and then end up with a bad bout of Covid.

The issue is determining who actually refused the vaccine and who just hasn't been offered it yet for whatever reason, so in practice I'm not even sure if it would work, I have a neighbour who didn't get the vaccine because he apparently couldn't due to medical issues, then I have a brother who refuses to get it just because (and he's fell into a bunch of conspiracy theory nonsense).

Get the damn vaccine if you can, Lol.

I agree with all this except the priority stuff.  I got both moderna shots and will get the boosters when needed.

I'm against the lines being drawn, and who gets to draw the lines.  I'm under the belief that all people are created equal and should be treated equally.  It just seems some people are more equal than others.  That is dangerous.  Even idiots should be treated equally.

Difference is that those conditions are not contagious, and the risks cannot be greatly mitigated by taking a shot about once every six months. A lot of people try to overcome addiction and fail despite their best efforts. It's virtually impossible to try and get vaccinated and fail.

*sighs*

Alright alright, I was a little hyperbolic and didn't literally mean we should let them all die, I just mean that I'm frustrated with the scale of this anti-vax thing and the fact that I'm required to do things I don't actually need to do (like wear masks at work) for the protection of people who don't even want that protection and are, in fact, often offended by it somehow. Am I allowed to have that frustration? Would that be alright with you? Am I permitted to say anything that's not politically correct here?

Diabetics are not impacting my lifestyle. Smokers are not impacting my lifestyle. Anti-vaxxers are. I know what it is to be an addict and this AIN'T the same thing! Just get your goddamn shots, people. It's not that tough. It's free. It's readily available to you right now, today, at local pharmacy, probably on a walk-in basis. It couldn't be more convenient. There is next to no risk involved in getting your shots and a lot more if you don't, and not just to you. I'm just saying. It's one thing to have normal reservations about getting shots, it's another to be ideologically motivated. No, I don't understand that mentality, I'm afraid and I'm pretty low on patience with it at this point. I'm tired of living like this for no good reason.

And yes, I feel sorry for that poor cancer patient, for fuck's sake! I don't think that makes me inhuman.

You also missed the point.  The point I was trying to make is that if you start selecting now who you will treat or not treat due to being vaccinated or non-vaccinated, then whats to stop the dictating of treatments for other ailments that may be able to be prevented.  Once that door is opened there will be a flood of bullshit that will rush in.  It will not stop with just Covid related issues, you can fill in your own examples that will be better suited for the Covid comparisons but my point is that door should not be opened.  What's to stop treatment being denied for personal beliefs, religious beliefs, political affiliations, race, intellect, or income level?

A person wasn't addicted to cigarettes, drugs, or alcohol before they started doing it so it's their fault they were stupid enough to start and shouldn't be allowed treatment (but again this is not the point).  I only used it as an example as to what might constitute another reason to deny treatment.  Again, don't open up that door.  Some people are predisposed to make stupid decisions.  I'm one of them.  I'm over-weight, former smoker, still drink and am guilty of other vices I won't mention here.  I refuse to judge anyone because I sure as hell have no standing.

The slippery slope argument is the argument that we shouldn't make a smart choice today out of fear we may have to make one tomorrow.

The fact of the matter is that the door has been open for a long time. When there is a scarcity of a medical resource it may be rationed based on certain factors. For instance, if you are a smoker you are very unlikely to receive an organ transplant over a similarly situated non-smoker.

What would stop people from being denied for personal beliefs, religious beliefs, political affiliations, race, intellect, or income level (lulz income doesn't matter for healthcare), is that none of those have anything to do with assumption of risk. I'm not suggesting that we deny antivaxxers treatment because I dislike them or their life is inherently less valuable. It's because if two people both need a hospital bed, one purely (or primarily) due to their own actions and one because of something they had no control over, then clearly our priority should be the person who had no hand in their misfortune. Otherwise, that person is paying the price for someone else's bad choice, which is plainly unjust.
