So many uncounted deaths in the US. Looks like they have at least 50% more deaths than official numbers.

Do we know what happens if uninsured citizens get infected? Do they still need to pay astronomically high fees if they get hospitalized? If that's the case, many people dying without getting hospitalized wouldn't be surprising at all.

Yes the land of the free, till you need to get hospitalized and be in debt for maybe the rest of your life.

The healhtsystem in the U.S is blatant scummery,i really hope that gets better for the people over there.

The US can always make me laugh

https://nypost.com/2020/04/29/what-a-socially-distanced-disney-world-will-look-like-when-it-reopens/

A regional task force has laid out guidelines for the world-famous, family-friendly Orlando resort to eventually open for business after shutting down last month due to COVID-19, announcing the park would only run at 50 percent capacity with strict social distancing rules, ABC-TV reported.

The restrictions will make Main Street USA a lot less crowded and keep Mickey and friends at arm’s length from kids.

Park workers will have to wear face masks and have their temperature taken, and guests in the park’s long queues will have to stand six feet apart, according to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force, a 44-member board appointed to plan the county’s eventual return to normalcy.

What a wonderful time it will be. 50% capacity while standing 6 feet apart, better make those queues a lot longer lol. Sit 6 feet apart in attractions as well? Don't touch any railings! Is it April 1st again?

Themeparks are one of the least responsible things you can open up.
Ei. they need to be some of the absolutely last things you open up, because risk of mass spreads are huge in such places.

I've been to disney world, its always super crowded.....by their standards 50% of capacity is still way to much (imo).
This is gonna end bad, if thats one of those things opening up soon.

Movie theatures, casinos, broadwell shows, themeparks..... Airlines.... Im sorry but you guys just need to stay shut down for a while longer.
You serve little purpose and huge risks atm.

From my understanding under the Cares act that they passed all Covid 19 testing and treatment is covered even if unisured.  Yet that doesn't mean the other flu tests they run before Covid 19 test are covered.

So basically they will test you for everything else before testing Covid 19 unless you are lucky enough to have drive in testing location near you.  If you have to go to hospital or clinic then they will run all other cold and flu tests first.  You will be on the hook for those.  They want to rule out other infections but they also have shortage of Covid 19 tests no matter what the administration says.

Here is a good article that explains the situation here since our health system is complex and not made easy for one reason: money

My guess?  President Trump and several governors are playing politics with people's lives but several government agencies aren't.  They know it's probably going to get worse.  Either as a result of opening up too soon or the combined mix of SARS-CoV-2 and the seasonal flu.

I'm starting to think that Trump has truly started to believe his own lies and has become more and more delusional, really thinking that anything against him is a ploy to remove him from office and not a result of his handling of things. Thankfully he has some same people around him to tackle things.

He is showing signs of dementia which might be from Alzheimer's, Parkinson's or late stage of syphilis.  He kind of reminds me of Hitler's last days in his bunker drawing battle plans for divisions that didn't exist anymore.

Wow.... over 30 million people have now filed for unemployment in the USA over the past 6 weeks.
Supposedly thats like 1 out of 5 workers in the USA that is now unemployed

Those numbers are fake!  They are keeping numbers artificially low to try and help win reelection!

-Trump during Obama era

Actually it doesn't count a lot of self employed freelancers and we all know most of those people are either fucked or semi fucked right now.

A bit of humour from China's propaganda wing, interesting times indeed

This isnt even counting the furloughed, people.
These are just fired people, applying for unemployment.

Actual numbers might be higher.
Also as you start opening back up, numbers will likely climb too.
Some might have family members at high risk, and not want to go back to work, if it means high chance of them getting infected.

The job losses, seem really high, compaired to most european countries were they offered to "cover" the pay wages (atleast partly), if companies keep employes on the job. Why didnt the US go with a simular solution? it seems clear PPP isnt protecting workers or jobs effectively enough.

I'm furloughed till mid May so another 2 weeks or so.  Collecting unemployment right now but even when my plant starts up again we will probably be on reduced hours (20) so I will still be collecting partial unemployment unless orders start picking up.  We manufacture those clear aligners but most dentist or orthodontist have been shutdown unless emergency surgery so have to wait till they get going.  We ship not just US but worldwide but orders are way down compared to few months ago when we were full steam ahead.

I think the law they passed for small business loans was supposed to encourage them to keep on payrolls in order to forgive loan but I believe they have till end of July or August till they have to spend on labor in order to be forgiven.  Basically there isn't much work at most places so they only need half or less of staff.  So those workers would probably be on reduced hours and claiming partial unemployment still.  Basically it is a mess right now.
