Top tier exclusives is what makes Sony and Nintendo so successful. No idea how this wouldn't make sense from an economical point of view. Especially because all these games are huge PC games as well. Games from the Elder Scrolls series or Fallout will be profitable on PC alone if they are good.
MS needs some more big AAA exclusives and these games could draw many people to Xbox consoles and even Gamepass would profit from not releasing these games on PS or at least only later.
Sony pays money to get some huge games away from Xbox but for MS it wouldn't even make sense to release games from own studios only on Xbox and PC... MS could be the company selling 100m consoles if they would offer stuff like that only on Xbox. It would completely change the mind of tens of millions of gamers and what they think about Xbox and their games.

I don't have data for that but I suppose that Sony is losing money on their exclusives despite them selling in 8 digits number of copies or very close to that. That's the reason why Horizon came to PC after all. To cover the losses. That's what I mean by economical point of view. Of course, I would prefer MS to make all these games exclusive but knowing them, I guess they have a different opinion on this one.

But if you increase your console sales with a much better games library, you also increase the sales of your other exclusives, third party games, accessories, subscriptions and so on... it's not only about if games like The Elder Scrolls will make more money on their own if they also release on PS but about how the whole Xbox ecosystem will grow from that.
If some million PS owners will switch to Xbox or at least buy an Xbox as well, they won't just buy The Elder Scrolls and nothing else. They might try out Halo, they might buy some more controllers or get the potentially better multiplat version on Xbox...
