Finally. Iirc the last direct we had was over three months ago. I was hoping for a regular direct, but this will do. We'll probably get a regular one in January, which is desperately needed to flesh out the first half of 2020. We know Animal Crossing is coming, but other than that what do we know about?

Announced Nintendo published games are currently

Tokyo Mirage Sessions-Jan 17

Animal Crossing-Mar 20

Xenoblade Chronicles-2020

Metroid Prime 4-TBA

Bayonetta 3-TBA

Breath of the Wild-TBA

Detective Pikachu sequel-TBA

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Lots of interesting games. I'll have to see how they are reviewed when they are released. I'm willing to give a lot of these a try if they are quality made.

Boyfriend dungeon? Is that the western name of that strangely named title "is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon?" game that's game that's just been released in Japan?

No, that's something very different, a game that was financed through Kickstarter. Here's their original Kickstarter pitch:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kitfoxgames/boyfriend-dungeon-date-your-weapons

Oh, ok thanks. Looks very different, that's for sure. So there's not quite 2 weird dungeon hooking-up games. I got xenoblade 2 vibes from this, actually.

DON'T WIN ME CHIBI BUDDY DON'T WIN ME.

ANIMAL CROSSING NEW LEAF FRIEND CODE:- 5129 1175 1029. MESSAGE ME.
ANDY MURRAY:- GRAND SLAM WINNER!

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

I liked the Showcase. Then again, I like more out-of-left-field games in general...

I loved Golf Story, I'm sure Sports Story will be my thing again.

Streets of Rage 4 might be interesting for me, too, but not too high on my list.

Bake n'Switch looks like an Overcook: baking edition

Supermash definitely looks interesting, gonna check that one out.

Talos Principle is a great game, but got it on PC already...

Dauntless may be a good game, but really not my thing at all

Murder by numbers could be good for me to fill little holes here and there.

Liberated is intriguing, want to learn more about it.

I knew about Boyfriend Dungeon already from Kickstarter, but too wacky for me.

The survivalists will be bought at a sale for sure.

I don't have the reflexes anymore for a game like axiom verge...

I think Axiom Verge is much easier than you're giving it credit for.  It's a very imaginative title and has really cool weapons and music, but I would definitely not say it's difficult like Hollow Knight or Ninja Gaiden.  And the more you play the easier it gets.

While not from Nintendo, these are some of the bigger 3rd party games early next year:

Darksiders: Genesis - Feb 14

The Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl - Feb 14

Warrors Orochi 4 Ultimate - Feb 14

Megaman Zero/ZX Legacy collection - Feb 25

My Hero: One's Justice 2 - Mar 13

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 - Mar 27

Trials of Mana - April 24

So yeah, it's not like Nintendo has to do all the heavy lifting themselves. Although the main part still falls upon them, they're not alone anymore like they were during Wii U days.

I got it on my shopping list in case of a good deal, so I'll be able to see for myself soon probably. But yeah, I was expecting it to be Nintendo hard, if it's not, then better for me.

How are the games that were released yesterday? Has anyone gotten them yet? It's been frustrating looking for some info on games like Call of Jaurez to decide if they are worth a purchase, but no one seems to be reviewing it. The same goes for games like The Talos Principle and Dauntless.

I waited on Dauntless for a long time. So I tried a bit the starting sequence and I have positive impressions. Fighting is very good and the game actually starts you with an easy fight. On the long run I might have a problem with the lack of sidemonsters and smaller levels (compared with MonHun). But maybe not. I'll see how it works for me. Also I have to see how monetization fits in (I have no idea at this point), but that is always a risk with free to play, that the monetization scheme is badly impacting gameplay and fun. Let's see.

my greatest games: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024

10 years greatest game event!

bets: [peak year] [+], [1], [2], [3], [4]

This was a really good direct shockingly, usually the indies ones are non-events for me. So fucking hyped for Sports Story, I loved Golf Story and this looks even better.

That one was impressive looking. Like Earthbound meets sports.
