Forums - Gaming Discussion - Stadia's game prices are very high according to Eurogamer

Well the price comparison is a little off - digital vs. physical.
Physical pretty much always wins that battle. Should've compared digital to digital and unless there's a sale, prices will be the same for most games.

Indeed comparing apples to apples.

RDR2 on stadia 55 pounds which includes UK sales tax of 20%, so 45.83 before tax which converts to CAD 78.35
RDR2 on the playstation store in Canada is listed for CAD 79.99

Same price...

Ports being full price a year after the original game launched is nothing uncommon so I don't really see the point.

But yes, you are going to pay full price AND if you want good performance you'll also pay subscription.

PS5 550$

2TB HDD 100$ for those >100GB games

4 years PSN 240$

__________

900$ just to get you in the door

You could buy more than 15 Stadia games for that. This may not appeal to core gamers but the more casual crowd will definitely take a look at it.

These prices would only be worth it with Games as a service with tons of new DLC every month or so as these are all included in Stadia... if GaaS were worth playing in the first place, that is!

Good. Fingers crossed it does not catch on.

We don't know the price of the PS5 yet.

You don't need a 2TB HDD if you buy your games physical. And you should, because physical games are almost always cheaper than digital on the PSN store.

You don't need 4 years of round the clock PSN coverage. Only half of all PS owners are subbed to PS+, and a lot of those people are subbed to it for free games, not for online.

You'd only be able to buy those 15 Stadia games if you went with the free version of stadia at 1080p. But next gen that will be as antiquated as playing your games at 720p.

did I miss any price announcement from Sony regarding the ps5 or are you making stuff up?

btw, psn also gets you free games every month

btw, who the hell would pay 100$ for and HDD when you're getting an M2 drive with the next console

btw, some people already have such drives at home, so it's no additional cost

btw. why not add PS Now to the list? at least it would be a 1:1 (or as close to it as possible) comparison with Stadia's offer

Price will be 500-600$ for the PS5, probably coming in two versions depending on the internal SSD size

Stadio pro also gets you free games

The internal SSD won't be 2 TB for the base PS5

Who has an empty 2 TB HDD just around?

If Sony allows free 1080p PS5 game streaming to PS4/PC, it will be a very competitive offering

More like Google Failia! Amiright? In all seriousness, this platforme looks more and more like a failure with every day. And the next gen systems arent even out to rip this proof of concept a new hole

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Buy 10 games at half price compared to Stadia: 10*30= $300. And that's a low bar, I got over 20 on the Wii U. But I digress.

Having actually recent and good games to choose: priceless

Also, if you include 4 year PSN and the HDD, let's include $100 a month for Stadia for a good enough connection (both in terms of ping and bandwith) to get 4k streaming, and this without any data caps. No need for such a big connection on a PS4 so you can go with half that. So even if we deduce PSN that still leaves Stadia at a surplus cost of $40 a month. With that alone you'll have to pay the amount a new console cost in about a year or so.

Oh, and btw, for $100, you can get a 4TB HDD these days, a 2TB is just $60. You can actually get a 500GB SSD for $100 now, so no need to buy an HDD unless you really want to have tons of games installed
