So they are going to patch God of War 3 I guess?

Do the women look like teen girls?

so, no they wont

While I was half joking, and mostly responding to the original title of this thread, you’ve got to wonder where this arbitrary line is going to be drawn and how many “exceptions” there are going to be. And, whether or not Sony is going to be strickt on themselves as well or if they are going to be hypocritical. Time will tell I guess.

For the record though, at the end of the day I don’t give  a sh*t about any of this.

This is fantastic news for Nintendo.

Do I like games with nude underage girls? No. Do any kid get harmed by it? Not really. Should devs be allowed to release what they want and market decides if they want to purchase or not? Fuck Yeah.

EXACTLY! Say it LOUDER for the people defending this! Because if it doesnt stop now it may become a lot worse.

Some posters make it look, like you have to be a fan of nasty illegal stuff to criticize Sony for this. You are not. Let me be crystal clear here: nobody in this thread endorses disgusting, illegal, horrific content.
But let me state one other thing: if Sony only wanted to remove illegal dumpster fires from their platform, they wouldn't need a policy at all, they would just enforcing what the laws mandate. But they need a policy. This obviously means they want to remove legal stuff.
If you are the opinion some stuff is so nasty it should not be distributed, push for a law extension to outlaw this content. Laws are in most countries made through a democratic process and have a lot of considerations brought forward. Not that the process of making laws is without flaws, but I know it is certainly better than ... the managers of a big multinational corporation making arbitrary decisions for all their customers and business partners. Because this is the core of the issue here: some men in power decide over what others can or cannot do, while avoiding democratic process and discussion.

I'm even more against government censorship than private company.

100% agree.

At least if it's a private company you have the option of just going to a different company instead (and hoping the shitty pro-censorship company goes bankrupt). Government censorship though.... just remember that the nazis and north korea were/are big fans of government censorship and that's about all that needs to be said!

So... Some people here take issue with a company not wanting to come across as misogynistic?

Hmmmm....

Yeah if it is just censoring for some strange Japanese games then it is kinda logical a company like sony would do that.

And i dont think they will censor nudescenes from lets say cyberpunk 2077 cause yeah that should have nothing to do with misogyny.

They are talking about underage girls being depicted in sexual ways.

I'm all for this.

When you come up with a valid comparison, let me know.

men are typically depicted in video games as disposable to a far greater extent than women are, if your argument is that depictions of either gender in video games must be positive then its rather bizarre that the issue of male disposability doesn't seem to be on your radar(well not really since i understand how the ideology works far better than most of its proponents funny enough)

but regardless if the argument is narrowed down to presentation only, well men are idealised in terms of their designs just as much as women are

but people who are infested with the equality doctrine just dishonesty hand wave this away as "male power fantasy" without acknowledging that to be sexy and to be desired is an ideal for women just as much as being strong and powerful is an ideal for men

but obviously they can't acknowledge that, if at the base of their perception is the stupid idea that men and women are the same and have the exact same motivations and drives can they?

I'm still waiting for that valid comparison.

What? You mean they are going to be more conscious about how 50% of the population is depicted in their games now? But what about me? Why didn't they think about how I would feel about how the opposite sex is depicted?

"What? You mean they are going to be more conscious about how 50% of the population is depicted in their games now?"

Plenty hunks of muscle running around taking hundreds of bullets in video games.

I don't look anything like those masses of muscle and I'm pretty sure I'd have a very hard time with taking even one bullet.

I'm not complaining though.

"But what about me? Why didn't they think about how I would feel about how the opposite sex is depicted?"

Well there are plenty consumers with varying tastes but if there's policy that curtails certain tastes, those tastes will go elsewhere to find it. This should be taken into consideration before enacting such policy.

1). Plenty hunks of muscle running around taking hundreds of bullets in video games.

I don't look anything like those masses of muscle and I'm pretty sure I'd have a very hard time with taking even one bullet.

I'm not complaining though.

1). Do a large percentage of the male population consider those as negative depictions of men?

2). I think you missed my sarcasm.
