Have I claimed japan have no violence, rape or pedophilia? Nope, I claimed Japan have very low crime rate which include them. So the presence of these games aren't really what is harming kids in Japan or elsewhere.

One could even claim that is better that there are pixel porn with looks of under age people than real child porn, because people that like this type of material will go to get it, so the first one at least doesn't harm any child. Also as I said, PS is a closed environment so every purchase have an account and it certainly can be traced to a real person if police wants. So they can have all people that buy this material followed closely and arrest him as soon as he go a toe ahead of what is lawful.

I never said that you said no violence.

Playing a small role still contributes to the overall reasons why kids are harmed.

You could also suggest that allowing such content is what can enable someone to go further.

Do you have any serious research that these games have harmed or played any role on it? I would bet there are a big number of causes that are legal and accepted that play a bigger role.

No, I don't. Though it sounds like you don't either.

So what if they play a bigger role? As I said, even if the game content in question plays a small, or lesser, role still means that is a cause.

You are on the it needs to go out because it harms child, so proof would be adequate.

If legal stuff plays a bigger role then it is quite ridiculous to start witch hunting on things because you don't like them.

I question whether Sony is implementing a broader anti-sexualization campaign and trying to obfuscate it behind the “only underage” banner based on Devil May Cry...or is the female character in DMC “supposed” to be under 18?

I can’t totally argue with the underage stance, Japan’s permissive stance on media depicting sexualized young girls is disturbing to me and I don’t like how it is even creeping into mainstream products like Fire Emblem (Nowi). Free Speech is great, but I am not surprised if a platform holder wants to distance itself from this type of content.

I suppose that brings one more option to the forefront, maybe Sony is signalling this to try to get its competition in trouble for allowing the content on their platforms...although if that’s the case why would they still allow it uncensored in Japan?

Sorry, I didn't realise you held a PhD in Japanese crime. Of course you don't need to provide evidence, my mistake.

and your constant use of the comparative form doesn't deny my claims, but rather highlights it

There is no proof that DMC 5 was a Sony mandated thing: their policy affects every region. So DMC5 not being affected in JPN doesn't add up to being Sony's policy.

Do you need evidence that Japan have low crime rate? Or you just want to avoid giving proof of your statement?

Let me be clear that I do not condone sexualization of children.  In fact, I see no point of sexualization of any kind in games.  It normally doesn't add anything to it unless that's the character's characteristic and even then I wonder why did the developer made that choice.  But I also do not condemn it by condoning that condemnation (I hope you got that) through censorship.  For example, it doesn't bother me to see a man's or a woman's backside when showering.  But this might offend some, and they might make enough noise to have a patch made to remove the scene.  It doesn't matter to me either way.  But if this group of people gets their way, it's only fair for other groups as well.  So by the time everyone gets they voice heard and acted upon, you're left with a game tamer than Mario.  Nothing wrong with games as such, but creativity and innovation get stifled when we allow censorship based on our personal preferences and especially when we give into political pressure that doesn't caters to its marketable audience.

So with that said and after buying all the Neptunia games on a PlayStation platform, I'll be purchasing my copy of Super Neptunia RPG out of principle on my future Switch due to the censorship imposed on this game by Sony on the PS4 version.

The evidence is in relation to the impact of game content on children, not the low crime rate.

I have already said that I don't have any 'serious research' into the subject. I can't be more open about this.

You are making sweeping statements as if they are objectively true. They aren't.

My position is that this game content has some impact on child harm, even if minimally, something your own word choice adheres to.

You know that the one who makes the claim have to proof, you already said you don't have any proof that these types of games harm any child, so you can't demand that anyone presents proof on the opposite.

Interesting, suppose Sony is announcing the “policy” to clear up confusion for devs/publishers?  Otherwise, why would Capcom self-censor on ps4 only?

@LivingMetal (sorry, forgot to multi quote): I am not a big free speech guy, but I see your point, and sure thre could be a slippery slope there.  One thing I will say is Sony picked the right topic, because it is difficult to even start a rational discussion about this in mixed company. I remember a local political debate where someone asked the candidates to support a zero tolerance policy for child porn;one candidate fell for the bait and tried to imply the topic was not black and white and was almost booed off the stage. I was about 20 at the time and the internet was growing, we were maybe two years away from the first teens getting jailed for sharing nude images with their boyfriends/girlfriends, but of course in the minds of the audience it is not about the edge cases formed by random cut off dates for “adulthood”, it is about abuse and exploitation of actual kids.
