I wonder how this will compare to Stadia, spec-wise.

Like the same.

Sounds really great, now it's important to sell it at the right price

It will be like Intel Optane, it's will just functioning as temporary memory enhancement  , so it will not require more than 128 GB . So probably PS5 will have normal HDD or even probably an SSHD + nand flash memory like Intel optane

Does it even need to include fancy memory?

Compare the average speed of a common 2.5'' 5400 rpm HDD (120 mbps) to a modern SSD (3000 mbps+) and the results are as good or even more impressive than what has been shown with Spiderman in the article. So far, what has been demonstrated and implied is consistent with a standard SSHD solution.

The problem  with using SSHD is,  the benefit of having high speed loading data will not be directly build inside the system. Because all the performance and benefit of fast loading data will only be be attach to the SSHD, and if someone by means try to remove the hard disk and replace with normal HDD all the benefit will be loss (or even worse , PS5 games will not working) .

Actually the statement  from the article explained on how the fast loading benefit will be the standard for PS5 performance, this require a dedicated bus/nand flash ram/ memory soldered directly to the motherboard. And it will be using the same principality with how intel optane work on the PC, but of course PS5 will not by any means using Intel Optane as the nand flash memory. I am using Intel Optane as an example on how SSD/Flash memory will work on PS5.

Its a monster .
Wonder what the price will be though?
Cannot be more than $500.

Backwards compatibility was not a priority for companies in the past. You already had the game, you already bought the game and they got the money.

Now companies have an online store library of games and there is money to get out of those games as long as they make platforms that can still play them.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

This all sounds good. But, I worry about the pricing. I feel like Sony and MS refuse to learn the lesson - launching with a base SKU over $400 is a recipe for weak sales.

With that said, maybe this was a premium unit. The SSD makes me wonder.....

Ready to drop £500 on this.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

The PS5 is shaping up to be great. At least, those are all great news.

The only thing that worries me is the price. This is not sounding as a 400 dolar machine.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I don't think the priority has changed personally. Where there's no significant financial or technical hurdle (physical media) consoles have always been BC and for sure BC between current gen and next will be significantly easier than it would have been with the transition with 7th gen to 8th, making it a no brainer.
