Forums - Music Discussion - What are your top 10 favorite songs of the year?

The year is coming to an end and at this point there probably won't be a lot of new songs to release. So, what are your top 10 favorite songs that released this year?

Mine are...

3. Havana by Camila Cabello

4. I'm Upset by Drake

5. Tati by 6ix9ine

6. Drip by Cardi B/Migos

7. Lust by Lil Skies

8. Pyscho by Post Malone

9. Plug Walk by Rich the Kid

10. Nonestop by Drake

2018 was definitely a weaker year for music (at least, for me, I assume it was a good year for OP since he seems to have the polar opposite music taste of me). Still, I ended up with 200+ songs in my favourites playlist, so selecting 10 will be difficult... I'll do 20 .

1. Ghost - Rats
2. Armin van Buuren ft Sam Martin - Wild Wild Son
3. Ghost - Life Eternal
4. Mumford & Sons - Forever
5. Arctic Monkeys - Four Out Of Five
6. LSD - Thunderclouds
7. Avril Lavigne - Tell Me It's Over
8. Mark Ronson & Miley Cyrus - Nothing Breaks Like A Heart
9. Martin Garrix - High On Life ft Bonn
10. Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - You Worry Me
11. Vance Joy - I’m With You
12. Awolnation - Table For One
13. Ariana Grande - No Tears Left To Cry
14. Imagine Dragons - Next To Me
15. George Ezra - Shotgun
16. First Aid Kit - Fireworks
17. Alan Walker - Darkside ft Au/Ra, Tomine Harket
18. Mumford & Sons - Beloved
19. Twenty One Pilots - My Blood
20. Robyn - Missing U

Honorable mentions: Mumford & Sons - Guiding Light; Twenty One Pilots - Legend; Armin van Buuren - Blah Blah Blah; Yungblud - Polygraph Eyes; Architects - Doomsday; Ariana Grande - Breathin; Bill Wurtz - La de da de da de da de day oh; Artic Monkeys - The Ultracheese (works better on the album than as a single); every song on Ghost's new album Prequelle (I didn't want to put more than two songs of the same artist on the list, but seriously, all songs on that album are just amazing).

I've gotten only two albums this year (who were released this year, that is), Paleowolf's Archetypal (dark ambient) and The Ocean's Phanerozoic, Part I (progressive metal). So yeah, hard to do a top 10...

Great thread. 2018 was a year of discoveries for me:

1. When The Party's Over - Billie Eilish
2. Mystery of Pop - Temples
3. You Should See Me In A Crown - Billie Eilish
4. One Kiss - Dua Lipa & Calvin Harris
5. I'm A Mess - Bebe Rexha
6. Veneno - Anitta
7. Bodak Yellow - Cardi B
8. Shallow - Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper
9. No Tears Left To Cry - Ariana Grande
10. Drip - Cardi B & Migos

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Billie Eilish is pretty good but i feel like most of her songs are sad/moody songs.

You're somewhat right, but I'd say they are moodier than sad. That said, there are some cool songs to dance to like You Should See Me In A Crown, Copycat and Bellyache.

1. Swimming - Kero Kero Bonito
2. Prior Things - Hop Along
3. Gibbon (Acoustic) - TTNG
4. Self - Noname
5. We Appreciate Power - Grimes
6. Hangout at the Gallows - Father John Misty
7. Nasty - Polyphia
8. Over and Out - Nine Inch Nails
9. Adam and the Evil - Clarence Clarity
10. Unjinxed - Four Fists

Notes: My choices were limited to one song per artist.

It was definitely an interesting year with a lot of great albums pushing the limits of what I typically listen to and really not much of what I would describe as the center of my musical strike zone.

PS: Lots of Ghost love. Dance Macabre would probably be in my top 20 this year.

I'm not really up to date on new music. IMO, most of it is trash. However, these are the top 10 best songs of the year that I have heard:

We're Still Here - Steve Perry
No Erasin' - Steve Perry
No More Crying - Steve Perry
The Elements - Tobymac
Sorry - Stryper
Take it to the Cross - Stryper
Lost - Stryper
A Million Lights - Michael W. Smith

Wow... I had to do some digging for some and I couldn't even come up with 10... Steve Perry's 3 singles though are phenomenal.
It was a great year for discovery though. Aside from Pour Some Sugar on Me, I never heard Def Leppard before. Don't know how. But now I love em. Holy crap. Their Rock of Ages collection is one of the best compilations ever! New Retro Wave (youtube channel) also introduces me to some cool 80's sounding indie music.

No order except for Kacey at the top. Phenomenal song from an incredible album (there's a reason it's getting so much praise). Kept it to one per artist.

Kacey Musgraves - Rainbow
Pistol Annies - Best Years of My Life
Pennywise - We Set Fire
First Aid Kit - It's a Shame
Godsmack - Bulletproof
Omnium Gatherum - The Cold
Children of Bodom - Under Grass and Clover
Kalmah - Paystreak
Ryan Roxie - Over and Done
Deicide - Seal the Tomb Below

9) Nothing Breaks like a Heart - Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus
10) Baby - Clean Bandit ft Marina & Luis Fonti
