Crazy Taxi

Today, this may seem like kind of an unnecessary game, as this seems like it could be a just a small part of a big sandbox-game among many, many other things. However, like the saying goes, 'Crazy Taxi' is not a jack-of-all-trades, but a master of one.

The objective is simple, the player must pick up potential customers somewhere in the open world city, and transport them to where they want to go. During the trip however, it's vital to take the fastest (read: craziest) route possible, with fast driving, jumping over ramps, taking shortcuts and near-misses with other cars to ensure you get to a customer's requested destination in time and they tip you as much cash as possible. A very arcade-style game where high-score, in this case money, is the end goal. That makes sense though, considering it's a port of an arcade machine.

After a while, you really get to know the city and it's secret paths to all the destinations, and you get better and better at making money. This game was out during the time when we'd sit around the television playing games together as a family, and besides there being no real couch-multiplayer mode, playing the game in a hot-seat kind of way was almost unbeatable.

#32: I don't even know what kind of genre this game is supposed to be. I mean, it's not a racer, not really an action game either, you demolish things... What is it?!

Correct, it could only be Blast Corps.

People love and hate this nautical action-adventure game for the same reasons, which strangely goes for many titles in its long-running franchise

-JRPG featuring a mimic that might be from the previous, unconnected, game in the franchise
-Turn based random battles that allow you to skip turns for the first time in the franchise
-Magic armour, chung chung chung.

At first I thought you were talking about the monster mimic, but it's actually one of the playable characters right? So that would be Final Fantasy VI.

Child of Light is a very beautiful game. Nice graphics are meshed with a fairytale story with dark undertones and a moving music. This is another example of the artful things that can be done in the UbiArt-framework. The gameplay is exploring the world and talking to people to get quests, solving puzzles in the environment and turn-based battles with a well working battle system. It's released on many platforms, I got it on WiiU. It might have been under your radar, because it is only a small downloadable title, but it is definitely worth checking out.
