Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony responsible for 2.7% of all Internet traffic

That's kind of crazy, I assume as other game services weren't included they're lower. Which be surprising for steam, not for the other consoles though.

If it includes the mandatory installation of all physical media in addition to digital, I'm not surprised that 70 million PS4's would generate that high of download traffic.

Installing data from a disc isn't internet traffic.

Wow. How in the world is Valve/Steam not in this?

Maybe the data couldn't be separated from other HTTP-traffic, while the PSN-data was more clearly to identify in packet inspection. Could be possible, as Steam-downloads probably are normal HTTP-streams, while PSN might or might not use other ways to distribute the data.

Excuse me Sir, an honest question: Are you in love with the company?

Not an important question, ask him on his wall, not the thread please.

The biggest PC games are split between other services and the China base goes through their own services. I would expect them to be very close behind.

I don't really find it misleading, but I understand what you're saying.  It would be interesting to also see the stats for what websites get significant amounts of  people's time, rather than just amount of data use. Obviously, data use is going to skew towards data-intensive activities like streaming video and downloading gigantic video game files.

how would you measure that? by self reporting?

"I swear, I totally didn't spend 2 hours on youPr0n yesterday" :D

Once the data is loaded, no one can tell how long of your personal time you spend looking at whatever website. It has to be measured by volume of data being transfered

All that gets logged by the places you visit and other connection/session state tracking systems.

Interesting indeed. Netflix and YouTube I understand, but Sony? More than meets the eye I guess. Thinking about it, it sounds reasonable when you account for the fact that you have video and music streaming from Sony while the PS4 has the largest console userbase. About YouTube, I've been getting a fair amount of music from them as of late as well as a lot of MMDs.

Hope you learn to read properly someday.

I have faith.
