Now I want to see which version of Doom Eternal will sell better: the one on the Switch or the one on the XBOne?
Xbox One, the audience there is simply bigger for an ultra gory first person shooter. I also wouldn't be surprised if the Switch version is a bit late; they said they're planning for a simultaneous release but we saw how that worked out for Dark Souls Remastered.
Well, Skyrim is almost certainly over a million already, and while Doom's numbers may not be chart-scorching, it should be remembered that porting an existing game is a hell of a lot cheaper than making one from scratch.
It's common on forums to act as though everything under a million is a flop, but Doom's Switch port may only have needed, say, 200k to turn a profit, with everything beyond that being gravy. Since these ports are being handled by external dedicated porting houses (Panic Button/Iron Galaxy) it's not like they're tying down significant resources at Bethesda, so they make a profit with little risk or investment, the middlemen get to make a tidy living, and Switch owners get more games. Everybody wins.
The simple fact that Doom Eternal is coming at all suggests their efforts thus far have born fruit, if not they would have abandoned the platform by now.

Let's take away without any problem that "hugely" as hype, at least for the titles that sold less, but what's left is that Bethesda is satisfied enough with NS to not just keep on supporting it, but also to increase that support. And if it's already satisfied with sales on a NS user base still relatively little, its satisfaction won't surely decrease when the user base will be larger.
Yeah the "hugely" part shouldn't really be taken literally, that's just how PR guys talk.
Actions speak louder than words and Doom Eternal coming to Switch is a pretty clear statement that they're pleased with their results on Switch so far.
