Well I remember seeing several movies with 14-16 without sex or violence. But sure I may be wrong.

Dark elements that may induce nightmares in smaller childrens are usually the reason.

Well I watched terror movies at 5-8 years old without any real issue. For me they were always more comical

It does not matter if it had no effect on you. If it might have an effect on some smaller children, a rating will be applied. The details which leads to what rating differ between the countries, but the reasoning is similar.

It might even an effect that is not scientific validated or some, after all ratings are politics too. But this all diverts too much from the topic, my basic point is, that a low rating doesn't really mean a content is intended or suitable for children. Only that it isn''t harmful, however harmful is defined.

I totally agree. I know it is completely uncommon for a child to see terror as comedy =p

And also yes the lack of rating for some very complex and mature themes is mainly because the kids won't probably even notice or bother with it, so no trauma expected.

No thanks. Don't need "maturity" in my videogames. That's one of the main reasons I prefer Nintendo. Particularly the games listed in the poll need to remain T at best. It just doesn't serve any purpose for them to add ultra violence, sexual themes, or excessive drug use.

There are many mature content that doesn't need to be conveyed through gore, sex or drug abuse. That is actualy a very wrong way to look at a content being mature. Usually are teenagers that like these type of content all over the place.

Can you give me an example of something in a game that would require a mature rating that doesn't involve what I mentioned?

Existentialism, post life, mental ilness, etc.

While these are "mature" themes, they won't cause the ESRB to issue a Mature warning on the box.  I'm all for those ideas, though.

That is why I said you didn't need sex, gore and drugs to be mature.

It could also be about debt, mortagage, credit card and paying bills

For some reason this is a circular argument.  I am referring to the OP asking which Nintendo IP should go Mature.  Mature is a rating.  The things that get Mature ratings are the things I listed.  Personally I don't want anyt of those things in a Nintendo IP, particularly the ones listed in the poll. I don't consider those "mature," but the ESRB and many posters here do.  I'm with you...true mature doesn't need to involve those things I listed.  But then Nintendo wouldn't need to worry about getting the ESRB to sign off on them either.

Maybe they could make a new IP that ends up being M-rated, I don't think any of their current IPs would benefit in any way from having the kind of content that gets you an M rating.

No circular man.

If you go by M-rated attached to sex, drug, gore but accept the other themes being on Nintendo games we don't have a disagreement. You accept that there are several mature content not related to those, but that it wouldn't get a M rating. That is fine.
