Sin & Punishment 6 11.11%

Xenoblade 3 5.56%

That is why I said you didn't need sex, gore and drugs to be mature.

It could also be about debt, mortagage, credit card and paying bills

For some reason this is a circular argument.  I am referring to the OP asking which Nintendo IP should go Mature.  Mature is a rating.  The things that get Mature ratings are the things I listed.  Personally I don't want anyt of those things in a Nintendo IP, particularly the ones listed in the poll. I don't consider those "mature," but the ESRB and many posters here do.  I'm with you...true mature doesn't need to involve those things I listed.  But then Nintendo wouldn't need to worry about getting the ESRB to sign off on them either.

No circular man.

If you go by M-rated attached to sex, drug, gore but accept the other themes being on Nintendo games we don't have a disagreement. You accept that there are several mature content not related to those, but that it wouldn't get a M rating. That is fine.

If you mean by M rating, Metroid but I doubt it will happen. T at best.
Althought, it really depends on what do you consider mature.

Good point there, for example, I consider shows such as Avatar and Adventure Time very mature in their approach to sensitive subjects. We shouldn't correlate rating with maturity.

O.T If Nintendo were interested in "mature" content, they would've kept Killer Instinct.

Found this quote from Tetsuya Takahashi of Monolith Soft; "Completely serious though, I would like to do a Z rated game (equivalent of M in America), and just do whatever the hell I feel like doing"

Seems like Monolith Soft is interested.

Xenogears pushed the boundaries with nudity and sexual themes... even if they were mostly scenes with sprites. Though there is some  nudity in a cutscene.

Xenosaga Episode 1 had a psychopath terrorizing a girl by murdering other little girls, breaking their bones, before using a blade to cut off his left arm then cutting off his own head.

There isn’t really anything like that since, but I would like to see Taka go back to doing crazier stuff again. I miss it.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Luigi's Mansion, we already had a dead baby in the first game, may as well.

Existentialism, post life, mental ilness, etc.

While these are "mature" themes, they won't cause the ESRB to issue a Mature warning on the box.  I'm all for those ideas, though.

I agree you can see some of those themes in a Teen rated game or with the right spin a E rated Kirby game.

Didn't realize that Sega was involved.  I guess Nintendo's best shot at mature IP really is Metroid.

My thoughts exactly.

I rather they made a new IP.

To be fair, Nintendo has shown with Splatoon and ARMS that they're open to making new IPs.

Yay! :D

Well I remember seeing several movies with 14-16 without sex or violence. But sure I may be wrong.

But they still likely had plenty of substance abuse and words like fuck, shit, cunt and twat used very frequently. Planes Trains and Automobiles was only rated R because of Steve Martin's f-bomb rush at a car rental service.

And those shows are able to be mature without graphic violence, sex, drugs or extreme profanity.

Agreed. Wish Nintendo had kept Killer Instinct, and really, ALL of Rare's pre-Microsoft games.

Sure, and making a new IP with a different rating or genre is better on the making more diverse games than just changing an existing one (and maybe making people hate you).

Yes it could be due to the language more than the content itself.

Nity is not going to create mature games, they will keep the "family friend" image forever, but...
Fire emblem, imho the audience for FE is already on the mature side. Make an fire emblem mature contend

And it's easier than trying to buy back Perfect Dark and Conker's Bad Fur Day.

Maybe Nintendo could make their own follow-up to Perfect Dark, complete with bringing in Grant Kirkhope to compose for it. ^^

Easier, cheapier and perhaps even more effective than buying those since not always nostalgy makes good games or sales.

What type of genre would you like Ninty to start investing?

I was hoping they'd invest in, like I said, a mature spy-themed FPS like Perfect Dark, and straight up horror like Eternal Darkness.

I would say both genres are lacking good games in quantity for a long time. So I would like to see what Nintendo would make on those. And by mature you mean mature themes or just as others pointed in the thread gore, sex and drugs?
