I always thought it would do very well on PC. Really good sales!

To think, it was the best selling monster hunter when it passed 4.9m, and the best selling capcom game when it passed 7.4m. And now it's at 10.3m+ and still heading up!

Bringing Monster Hunter multi-platform is the biggest success story, with sales like that they should never go back.

I simply never understood why Japanese Devs go exclusive with their games instead of multiplate. Why is persona not on Nintendo? It would sell so much more on there. Same goes for yo Kai watch. Why didn't they release it on PS?. And there are a lot more.

I'm guessing it has something to do with their culture and how they view business relationships... maybe...

I see Tegra X1 given with 1TF, which is not way below 1.8TF.

Tegra X1 is 1TF in FP16...... but  the numbers Barkley List is for FP32.
Tegra X1 is 512 Gflop in that case.

The "Switch" is only 393 Gflops though (FP32) (it runs slower than a Tegra X1).

If the Minimum PC listed Card is 1.8 Tflops, and the Switch is 0.393 Tflops.... you can see its below the minimum recammended PC parts.

"which is not way below 1.8TF"

Cut the crap.....  393 Gflops is only ~22% of the total of 1.8TF.
Not even 1/4th of it.... yes that is "way" below it.

Yeah, I was going off of the 1TF value. With the additional info you and barkley provided it is lower though.

That’s a great number. Give the person who saw the light and brought MH back to Playstation a raise.

Actually if that were the case, the game wouldve only sold around 4M. Thank the heavens for Xbox and PC for the added 6m sales.

So you're saying the Xbox version sold the same amount of units as the PS4 version?

I agree. In these times with multiplatform enabled engines and programming and development tools that support multiple platforms it should be a no brainer. You see it for indies: as these don't care that much about platform politics and their games haven't the visibility and pull of bigger productions they often support a multitude of platforms.

I like how we've managed to turn this from MHW crossing 10m to "let's all thank PS4 and forget everyone else", "Also let's jab at Nintendo just because".

I won't be adding to the number yet, not until Capcom sort out that expensive late PC port .

Damn, 2m on PCs alone. One might think that portability or the platform might not have been the biggest reason to buy it. One might even think the previous platform held it back massively.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

That's fantastic! A great example of why third party games/franchises should not remain exclusive.

There is a strong audience of JRPGs on Nintendo, PS and even PC. Even Xbox has a good JRPG fanbase. They should release on all these platforms instead of just going exclusive with one. The big JRPGs who went multiplate won big due to this like FF15 and now Monster Hunter.

Capcom would be insane to ever ditch the PS/Xbox/PC userbase for future monster hunter games, even if it's a spin off they want to bring to switch that's less ambitious so switch can handle it, it should be released on other platforms.

Time and time again, the fanbases for these games are not nearly as split as you like. Lot of these teams would rather keep the budget tight than splitting up resources. For bigger games, it makes sense since the 10-15% of additional sales you see is enough to justify the cost. However, before Persona 5, the series had never been big enough to justify multiplatform. When talking about about niche genre like JRPG, you're stating the least beneficial genre for more platforms. The examples you cite show how little the extra porting did.

Officially the ps4 and xbox version has sold a staggering 8.3m units in the 6+ months it's been out. However reports from steam suggest it had a good pc debut of over 2m sales. Monster Hunter has just entered the big leagues. I've no doubt it will hit 15m+ too.

Link to 2 million? I saw where they were able to datamine that it sold 500k in the first few days. That's a big jump to 2 million.
