This will also affect prices of products made by American companies that are manufactured in China. A component costing $100 at a US port, could be inflated to $125 before Federal and State taxes are applied, not to mention costs of the rest of the supply-chain, leading up to your retailer and their margins. Goods imported from Taiwan (ROC), South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia (the other known countries where PC hardware is manufactured), remains unchanged. So guys, if anyone that lives in the US and is thinking about buying a new PC or Parts.... now is the time.
Its about to get much more expensive, with these Tarifs added ontop of current costs.

Also 25% "could" just be a start, Trump has said he might go as high as 50%.

Finally someone who runs the state like a business.

I can see it now.... next Gen MS swear they wont be weaker in proformance than the PS5 is at launch, so they go that extra mile.

Sony with PS5 plans a 400$ price point, thanks to tarifs ends up being 600$.
MS with XB2 plans a 500$ price point, thanks to tarifs ends up being 750$.

Start of next gen, all the american gamers will be really thankfull of Trump!

It will just encourage people in the US to make sure they are buying and supporting PC components and consoles which are made in the US such as the.... ummm.... magnavox odyssey!

And you don't believe that something will happen:

1. China folds and a better trade deal is made between us two countries

2. Companies no longer make their products in China cause the tariff takes away all the savings they made by moving to China.

And why is Sony not affected by the Tarif? They make their PS5's and so on in China do they not? Pretty sure all consoles do.

What makes you think that China's companies are suffering from the tariffs while domestic companies who rely on imports will just shrug it off as if it was nothing? Trade goes both ways, you know. And what is won when the counter tariffs are implemented? What did anyone win then?

Welll, ... we euriopeans could start to produce stuff and sell it to the US and China. Everyone wins!

The US could fold too.

But the point is that right now the US/China trade deal is heavily in China's favor. This Trade war is not a permanent tariff. It is just that a war until someone folds. Whether that is China finally giving us a better trade deal as well as no longer violating the World Trade Organization rules, which is giving them an unfair advantage over foreign competitors. Or if it the US folding and going back to how it was.

So people in the USA will finally be paying the same for tech as we europeans? I don't see harm in that *grin*
