Forums - Sales Discussion - Do Not Buy a Phone From LG

Their G line is garbage compared to their V series. My previous phone was a v20 and now i rock a v30 and love it.

No.

At least not if he put off by this experience because of a refusal to repair his original phones damage, that is an area that Apple are notoriously bad for even going so far as to try to sue third parties and prevent them from offering iphone repairs. And reported earlier this year for attempting (successfully in places) to brick phones which had been repaired without Apples permission.

Really? I had an issue with an iPhone 7 Plus last year (and with an Apple Watch series 2 as well). They gave me new devices without asking too much, and on both times the process took less than 2 hours (from booking to getting the new device). I don't know any friends that had issues with repairing their products at Apple Stores either, and when the product's warranty is over, they even offer you the chance to buy a new product for a much cheaper price. I honestly can't imagine a better service than that.

The only thing you have to be careful is to only take your Phone to an official Apple Store, instead of resorting to unnofficial places. But I can't see how that would be a problem since they offer many possibilities.

You and your friends who like Apple products VS Published and well documented cases of apple wanting customers to upgrade to the point of IOS not running / crippling older devices as it updates on them.

And sure after 12 months they allow you to buy a new model phone at a discount, that said you can get phones similar in spec to iPhones at a massively discounted price from the get go... they're just running Android OS

I will concede one thing though, if the OP's issues are actually caused by installing something from the playstore which has impacted the performance of his phone and caused him some of the issues, that is one case where IOS is actually superior, they have a closed market and do a lot more quality control on the apps available to install by their users, in a way it's both a positive and a negative, if you're a experienced user who knows to avoid mp3 downloaders and such you're golden with android, but ... there are cases where I've seen people ruin their phone by installing malware onto it which would be avoided by using an Apple phone, so there are benefits to both sides.

I Just don't want it to come off that I hate Apple and all they do, but when it comes to advice on which new phone to buy, outside of special cases I really wouldn't recommend one over the Android equivalent.

Anecdotally, my friend's LG phone (not sure which model) just had its battery balloon up the other day.

I'm still rocking a Note 3 but looking forward to an upgrade. I like the flexibility of Android but am tired of Samsung software. This holiday I'll probably get either a Nokia 7 Plus, Pixel 2 XL if the price drops enough, or a Pixel 3/XL if it impresses enough.

Couldn't agree more. Horrible...horrendous customer service by the way. Their headquarters are impossible to contact if the issue isn't resolved thru the main service number.

The fact that they deny to fix stuff that was violated or modded is not really a problem, it's only logical to me. I just said that, excluding that matter, their customer service works pretty well. I fail to see a better service around.

I'll give you that the iPhone 6/6 Plus had horrible battery issues, and they are to blame on this case, but outside of it, no other iPhones had these issues. It happens, no product is perfect, and Apple has some bad practices too. But from the options available on the market, the iPhone is the most reliable one, excluding sporadic issues that all phones are bound to have. That was my point, recommending something reliable to someone complaining about the reliability of a phone based on my personal experience. After all, the OP itself is based on a self experience, so I can only use anecdotes for the most part.

If he likes Android and doesn't want to change tho, I'd recommend an S line from Sammy (like the S9+). These are very balanced premium phones.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Can I buy an LG TV?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

LG actually has some of the best budget phones on the market, most notably the Stylo series.

I'm gonna stick with that since its worked fine for me after years of using that series.

Things like Xiamomi, Hafury and Doogee offer some incredible spec for a stupidly low price, I told a friend who has dropped several phones to change to them since the models he keeps bouncing off the ground are €300+ phones and the Hafury Mix which is in the same line as it costs around 70e I told him he could buy 4 of them en masse, literally open one, smash it off a wall, use each of the other 3 phones for a few months each and still be up €20 on what he is doing by whacking Xperia's off the floor every other month.

edit - not suggesting those phones last a few months btw! My UMAX has been going for well over a year now and Android 7 with an effective 47gb ROM is enough for me for some time... considering it was €68 in a special offer. Just that no phone of my mates has made it to the 3 month mark without getting at least a cracked screen.

I had a LG G3 and was a very nice smartphone, but wasn't pleased by LG UI. Sony smartphones ftw
