Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Capcom: "MHW can't be done on Switch." But might make a Switch specific MH game. (Rumor)

As expected on both fronts, the Switch can't handle MHW but Switch is too popular to ignore. Guess Monster Hunter 5 incoming

Around the Network

Why does the thread title say "will" which implies certainty, but the actual text says "might" which implies uncertainty?

im down, keep a MHW series going on ps4, give switch its own series, ill buy them all

Specific? Like the piece of trash they are porting over?
I'm down as it doesn't look like a 3DS game.

Sounds good to me.

There was a thread about a rumor of a PS4 MH Game (which came true) and a New MH game on the Switch.

The Tweet didn't say "might"?

Pocky Lover Boy!

As I said before, its not the ideal solution.Going multiplatform with MH would be the best, since it would mean less resources used overall and everyone would enjoy the same game. But this is better than nothing.

But I seriously hope that they do take MH on Switch seriously just as they did with World.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

If the Switch was strong enough to run the full scope of MHW series, this would be indeed true. However, we can see pretty clearly that it couldn't do it any justice.

Accepting that, this is the best news for MH fans. They get a full-scale PS4/XB/PC series in World, and a dedicated Switch-tier series (which can be just as good if not better in all areas other than graphics and taking storage space into account of course). Twice the MH, provided they put enough resources into it. Given Switch's success in JP along with MH being AAAA-tier there in popularity, this seems expected. MHW had the best sales of all Capcom games to date thanks to global appeal finally, and MH on Switch still makes perfect sense due to both increased global appeal and how JP customers will completely go nuts over new mainline entries and notable installments on Switch.

Win/win :)

It honestly reminds me of how we got many installments on GBA and DS from franchises that varied from their home console counterparts. Instead of crippled ports, we got original titles to go with the console entries as companion pieces.

This is honestly how the big 3rd party multiplats should treat Switch for titles that wouldn't otherwise translate all that well to Switch. Say Battlefield, COD, Destiny, RDR, etc, just create excellent smaller-scale games that take full advantage of the Switch hardware in a way that is appealing.

For example, I would have no interest in playing a hypothetical port of RDR2 on Switch, badly cut down in graphics, running at ~600p/25fps. No thanks, when I could play the exact same thing dramatically better on PS/XB (and seems like PC later given leaks).

But give me a RDR entry with a cool cel-shaded style that fleshes out some notable characters that cross over into the mainline games? Absolutely. I wouldn't turn down the chance for some exclusive cool stuff that wasn't otherwise available.

I mean things like Doom, Skyrim, Wolf2, on Switch just don't interest me when I can play massively superior versions elsewhere. Portability isn't enough to make up for the vast disparity in the quality of the presentation. It's like intentionally watching a film in VHS instead of Bluray. Yes, you CAN do that, but ... if you don't have to, why would you? Exceptions for people who only have time on the bus, they have no access to a TV/etc, fine. Just given the choice, it's really hard to accept the downgrades that are necessary to make it work.

Monster Hunter World is Monster Hunter 5 according to Capcom.
