Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Fortnite - warning DO NOT play on PS4, or you can't play on Switch (and quick start guide if you're sheltered like me, and didn't know about this game before)

I mean, complaining about this is the equivalent of buying a xbox-one game and complaining the PS4 does not play the game even though you have the PS4 disc as well

Not sure why Sony got such a big issue with crossplay with it's competitors. Nintendo is on board and they're usually late to the party

Because it taps into their resources (user base) and bolsters their competitors. In fact, Sony lightened up on the restrictions from the start of the gen. People are just incredibly entitled

PC has a bigger userbase and they're just fine. Entitled to have the same thing as the other platforms, sure.

How the hell is this even comparable? Can you elaborate?

I mean, it's the exact same scenario. How much more simple do I need to make it?

Well if MS or Nin is so gamer friendly, they shouldn't care if people are spending their Fortnite money through PS and playing that game on XB and Nin platforms. XB is making money off online services and Nin will be soon enough. The reason they wouldn't be ok with that, is because they want a piece of the pie, and the bigger the piece the better. This would explain why PS might do what they might have done contractually, to make sure they end up with the biggest piece of pie. If MS or Nin didn't want to agree with that, then Epic or PS has every right not to agree as well.

The same would apply if you initially linked your account to XB1 or Switch. You would spend all your money on that platform for the game, then play with those purchased items on other platforms with a secondary account. If Epic themselves didn't want that due to potentially less micro-transaction sales, then its solely Epic's greedy fault. If PS said to Epic, everything tied to PS4 for Fortnite stays strictly linked to only PS4, then Epic once again had a choice to make. Tell anti consumer PS to take a hike and join MS and Nin in their anything goes marketing, or agree to PS demands and reap the benefits of their massive PS4 user base.

One way or another, it comes down to Epic and the decisions they made for Fortnite. They weren't forced to play by the PS brands rules, if those rules actually exist.

Its quite amazing how you have managed to spin this in a way that Sony can do no wrong and has never done nothing wrong in this situation. Bravo!

I never said PS can do no wrong. I only said in this situation, its Epic who is the deciding factor at the core. Whether or not PS tried to use leverage to get Epic to do what they wanted is besides the point. If we're going to go outside of the core in terms of who does anti consumer things, we can talk about that for days pointing fingers at every console company. Just look at MS using what leverage they have to try and make PS look bad on social media. Its just business and marketing tactics.

It also depends on your anti consumer viewpoint and perspective. For all we know, PS is taking that Fortnite money and more, and pouring it into PS first party exclusives. The fact that those exclusives have been such high quality is no doubt partially due to the money invested into them. Is that anti consumer? Trying to give your customers the very best gaming experience when you play their games?

PS doesn't exist to make everybody's gaming experience better, they exist to make their own customers experience better. Why do you think MS created the XB brand? What about XB Game Pass? Why would they do that in the first place, and also not open it up to PS or Nin gamers?

Just so you know, you're treading a very fine line here. I'd recommend you not make a habit out of trying to bait people into a strong negative reaction. It doesn't go unnoticed.

A better example would be : I subscribed to WoW on my PC, but one day I used my friend’s Mac to log on my account, since then I’m unable to play on any PC because my account is locked to an Apple device.

Except nothing like that at all. Ya know, since PC =/= consoles and consoles have never been linked like this

As one of the more flaming PS fanboys on this site, I'll also chime in and say what a crap move this is by Sony. Their initial response was terrible. One of the worst, in the can, PR responses I've ever read. I hope they reverse course on this one. I mean if this were only affecting Xbox owners, I'd be fine with it. Even a bit sexually aroused. But doing this to Nintendo is wrong.

It has been like this for the Xbox One. People just didn't notice it, cause who woudl play fortnite on both systems? You woudl play it on one or the other. Most poeople don't have both of those, and even if they did, they are likely plugged into the same TV, so why woudl you play on PS4 one day and next day XBox. You wouldn't. It was a problem that no one noticed, cause the situation only happend to a few people.

Now though, you have 2+ Million switch owners all trying this day 1. Likely a couple hundred thousand of that 2 million own a PS4, and thus ran into this problem. That is a a lot of poeple. And it's not so easily burshed aside as it was before. Before its easy to say "just play on PS4 then, ignore the xbox" That works for that, because they are both the same system essentially. The Switch though works as a handheld, and that is something peopel want.

Yea, that sums it up better. Apple locks you into playing on its computer, cause somehow anything you buy in WoW, or part of the subscription costs they get. That is essentially what Sony is doing. They want all fortniters to purchase the micros on their system so they get a cut.

It doesn't help your case to actually skew the facts. PCs have always been open source. Consoles have always been closed
