Yeah, the trailer at least shows a 2018 release for Granblue. Haven't seen any news on it being pushed back.

This will absolutely be massive for PS4 in Japan. Over 20 million players and they are dedicated as hell as to this game and I'm sure Cygames will market the shit out of it with Sony.

Werent you recently arguing that Pokemon Lets Go wouldnt attract Go players because its a free game on smartphones vs a $60 game on a $300 console, what maked Granblue on PS4 any different?

Granblue has waifus. The desire to see waifus in high resolution 3d models is very strong, specially in Japan. Pokemon Go was fueled by nostalgia. GBF is a modern series. And if you want to talk spending, GBF wipes the floor with Pokemon Go in Japan, so it has a much higher chance of people shelling out cash to see their waifus.

Waifus are going to get people to spend $360 on a PS4+Granblue? Sounds like something a niche group of uber fans would do.

You certainly underestimate the power of waifus.

60,000 people spent ~$500 on the Bluray discs for the GBF anime according to Oricon.  Keep in mind that's only about 3 hours of video or not much longer than a Hollywood movie's length and they spent $500 on it. It also wasn't very good. So yeah, I easily think Granblue will push PS4s, especially if Cygames includes very desirable codes for the web game.

So you really saying more people will buy this game and console boost from that than Pokemon Go Pikachu and Eevee?

In Japan? Absolutely!

In the world? Hell no. Nobody outside of Asia gives a shit about GBF whereas Pokemon is everywhere.

EDIT: Oh, wait. I see what you're saying. No, that's not what I think nor what I said. I think that a lot of people will buy a Switch to play Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee. However those people will not be Pokemon Go players who haven't played a Pokemon game since Red/Blue/Yellow. The people who will buy a Switch to play Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee are the people that played Sun/Moon.

My thoughts are regarding appealing to the Pokemon Go crowd who have only played Gen 1 games. There will be far more people in Japan who pick up a PS4 due to GBF than people who only played Gen 1 who pick up a Switch for Pokemon Let's Go. That should be more clear.

Where did you get that info? I just looked at the best selling Bluray chart for 2017. Each of the Granblue Blurays sold between 23k-34k.

Ok so it sold ~317,000 across 7 volumes in 2017 or ~45,000 per volume. Maybe 2018 sales bring it to ~60,000 per volume.

I still dont really see how the number of anime fans has any relevance to the number of people who would buy a PS4 to play the game, on top of that we have to factor in the number of anime fans who already own a PS4.

Seems like Granblue might give PS4 a nice boost for a few weeks but nothing extreme.

That's what I'm saying. It'll provide a nice boost at release.

It's not the number of anime fans. Hell, I can tell you right now that at least half of them aren't anime fans. They wouldn't buy the DVD over the BD if that was the case. It's the number of GBF fans who are willing to spend large amounts of money on GBF-assorted merchandise. So if that many are willing to spend ~$500 on a rather mediocre anime series that barely shows off the various GBF waifus, a game where you get to actually play as your waifu will have a lot more interest.
