Forums - Nintendo - Square Enix Devotes Division To Developing Switch Games

Square Enix seems to be a huge company. I mean they are capable of working on several AAA titles at the same time, when you know that a single AAA title requires several hundreds employees to work full time on it for years and SE can do that with 3 games in parallel plus some indie games and collaborations with other studios.

Now on top of it all they can afford a full division for Switch games. How many tens of thousands of employees do those guys have?

Yet they are unable to bring Dragon Quest XI in time and unable to bring FF XV to Switch version.

Highly doubt this is possible in a respectable form. I'd rather them try new AA stuff, like Octopath Traveller (it bugs me that they spell it with one L)!

Well at least they are giving it a crack so worth supporting them

Just hope the Publisher part of the business doesn't pull a Capcom and start doing 1gb carts with 20gb downloads lol.

Bleh.
Not worth the time.
It might be because younger Nintendo fans are deprived of a period of time when Square’s RPGs on Nintendo consoles were top notch and cutting edge, but crap like Bravely Default, Crystal Chronicles, and I am Setsuna are incredibly low quality; typically poorly balanced/grindy, low budget, and completely lacking any soul.

I am a big fan of many Square Enix games, but their track record on Nintendo consoles is shit outside of Dragon Quest and some of the remakes. The only thing of interest with these sorts of games is that Square is actually putting content on a Nintendo console; the problem is that it has the inspiration of a “Square Final Fantasy influenced attempt-at-market-grab app #46.”

Bravely Default is solid, quite popular and quite quality game for 3DS game, Octopath Traveler also seems it will be quite good game.

Bravely Default was one of the most soulless, grindy, and repetitive RPGs I have ever played. The game literally keeps repeating itself for padding. It is perhaps because certain younger Nintendo fans have accepted mediocrity in the place of greatness because they haven’t had the experience.

There’s no reason to be a champion of mediocre RPGs because they’re the best exclusives that Square’s got for Nintendo consoles at this time.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Both versions are technically fine.

You may not like the game but universally BD is seen as a solid RPG and one that made it clear that classic jrpg approach is still very viable in today's market.
