That seems like an odd trigger to saving $25, since it doesn't include an AC adapter, which is $30.

Just buy a normal Switch and sell the dock
Proof that the Switch is a hybrid...
It's got the look of a handheld but got the price of a home console :P

Guess its because its production value might be that much greater than a Vita and a little over Wii U :P

Yeah, I'm not talking about those people, nor am I one of them, which is why I said I'd probably not buy a screen protector. |
I think it's worth noting that the thumbnail for the video shows a long deep horizontal gash across the system which would not be caused by the vertical protrusions inside the Switch dock. The actual scratches in the video are vertical scratches on the bezel of the system, which does line up with those grooves. A horizontal scratch across the face of the system would ruin gameplay. Vertical scratches confined to the bezel would be merely cosmetic. Annoying to some, but a device with handheld use is going to acquire cosmetic damage over time regardless unless you wrap it in a napkin on a daily basis like my boss actually does with his iPhone. I know my 3DS clamshell has several nicks and scratches on it from years of out of the house use. I just think it's really telling of the reaction they were trying to elicit by tagging the video with a screencap of a horizontal gash rather than the actual cosmetic bezel scratches that actually get shown in the video.

I'm also not really buying the whole "it's meant for households that already have a Switch" nonsense, unless you want to argue that Nintendo only meant for Japanese DS owners to buy a 3DS since that didn't come with an AC adapter and couldn't be charged out of the box either. It's just Nintendo's classic nickle and diming antics. |
I would agree if this was a worldwide retail option but its literally only available on the Japanese Nintendo store sp i really dont think this means anything about the syatems design.

It’s so far only being sold from the My Nintendo store and they apparently mentioned that’s it’s aimed towards households with a Switch already. Nintendo even has stated that they wanted multiple people in households to have a Switch, not just having multiple households with a Switch. |
Why does it matter where it's being sold so far? And again, that is handheld-centric talk to have multiple Switches in the same household. It's similar, if not identical to statements Nintendo has made about its line of handheld consoles in the past. I don't remember Nintendo coming out and stating they wanted multiple people in households to have a Gamecube or a Wii.

So if Nintendo starts offering this dock-less Switch world wide, the Switch becomes a handheld in your eyes, even though its functionality and design hasn't changed at all? That doesn't make any sense.

You don't need the AC adapter, just a USB-C cable, I already have several around the house. |
Are you that cheap?

Or MS and Sony talking about multiple of their consoles in a single house even if it is also a multimedia devia... the most we see is they commenting in some overlap of Pro and X for people upgrading.
