I've had a Switch since launch.  I take it everywhere and dock it everytime I'm home.  No scratches.  I've also never scratched the screen of any of my cell phones, but a friend of mine has completely cracked the screen on several of his.  You can't cover the world in nerf material just because certain people are prone to scratch/break things no matter what.

Yeah, I'm not talking about those people, nor am I one of them, which is why I said I'd probably not buy a screen protector.
I'm talking about people who just put their Switch down into the dock normally, and voila, a scratch. That shouldn't be a thing.
Although if Nintendo for some reason never revise the dock, then I would get a screen protector.

I think it's worth noting that the thumbnail for the video shows a long deep horizontal gash across the system which would not be caused by the vertical protrusions inside the Switch dock.  The actual scratches in the video are vertical scratches on the bezel of the system, which does line up with those grooves.  A horizontal scratch across the face of the system would ruin gameplay.  Vertical scratches confined to the bezel would be merely cosmetic.  Annoying to some, but a device with handheld use is going to acquire cosmetic damage over time regardless unless you wrap it in a napkin on a daily basis like my boss actually does with his iPhone.  I know my 3DS clamshell has several nicks and scratches on it from years of out of the house use.  I just think it's really telling of the reaction they were trying to elicit by tagging the video with a screencap of a horizontal gash rather than the actual cosmetic bezel scratches that actually get shown in the video.
