I don't care if the game has realistic graphics or not, I just want it to be a quality game that Nintendo puts a lot of creative effort and pride into developing and that they really try to reinvigorate the franchise. I would take mediocre graphics any day if Nintendo delivers something that is truly unique and creative. I don't want MP4 to be a game that Nintendo developed just because their fans had a hissy fit over Metroid Prime Federation Force three E3's ago. I am afraid that MP4 is going to be another Star Fox Zero, a cop-out game that Nintendo releases to fulfill an obligation to their fans that is basically a piece of garbage. The reason why I am worried this might happen is that Metroid Prime 1 (easily one of the top ten greatest games ever created) only sold about a million copies, so I really don't know what financial reasons Nintendo has to invest a lot into MP4. My hope is that the new MP can really re-invent the franchise and bring in a lot of new fans.

The way I see it, MP4 can be either like Star Fox Zero (a crappy game that could very well be the last entry in its franchise) or like Fire Emblem Awakening (a great game that carves out new territory for the franchise, garners mainstream appeal and leads to many more entries).

What are you on about?

These games don't have realistic graphics, nor a realistic style.

Realistic is a broad range that Prime and OM fall in they're just a stylised realistic approach after all the OP lists Doom as such a game and it is just as stylise, don't mistake photo realism as the only realistic.

I mean if we're talking hyper realism, then no because that doesn't work as well with its fantasy sci-fi settings and creatures. But yes, it will probably be the most realistic looking Nintendo IP to date. A current gen update of how MP3 looked I'd say.

Yeah, people need to define their terms.  There aren't just two styles, Wind Waker and Last of Us.  It's a broad range.  Mertroid Prime 1 to 3 are on the realistic end, above, say, Xenoblade 2 but below Metroid Other M.  And Other M is a bit below your Call of Duty games.

And Pikmin 3

I think Pikmin (environment wise) is the closest thing to photorealism we'll ever get from Nintendo. Thanks to you, I'm now wondering how Pikmin 4 will look like.

"lupus in fabula, venit enim ad me."

Translation: I will always hate Fox for canceling The Exorcist.

Yeah, I was already impressed by how Pikmin looked on Wii U, I could almost eat those fruits XD

Since realistic means everything is brownish grey, I really hope it’s not.

No. It's just plain impossible on the Switch, imo.

...

You do know that the majority of the PS360s libraries had a realistic art style of some description and the Switch outmatches both of those handily, right?

Any topic about Prime 4 scares me.  Metroid Prime is one of the most important franchises for many people (including myself). Every game (except Federation Force) is a freaking masterpiece in every aspect: from gameplay, to graphics, to music. And as such, I wish with all my heart that Prime 4 continues to be what the other Prime games were to its respective consoles: a high point for the Nintendo Switch.

But... we don't know anything about the game. We don't know who is developing it, we don't know how it looks, we don't know how it plays... and if you think about it, I'm not sure Nintendo knows how important is Metroid Prime. I'm not sure they understand that Prime 4 has to push the Switch to its very limits in every possible way. I don't think they understand that they have to make sure it's not only a good game, but an excellent one. I'm not sure if they understand that, if they screw this up, fans are going to be crazy mad at them.

We need information. Until I don't see a gameplay trailer and know who is behind this game, I won't feel calm.

This is how I feel overall I just wish/hope Nintendo take a leap of faith and build on the franchise. It has so much potential to be a broader audience game. It should be one of their Tier 1 games not Tier 2  as it is atm.
