I have to confess, I am very worried about this one.

I want to get hyped, but I can't help feeling like they're going to ruin it somehow, either by having making Samus an insecure over-talkative wuss with daddy issues like in Other M, or going with a cheap and tacky art style.

I just find it so hard to see Nintendo giving this game the treatment it deserves when they haven't done so with a comparable game since, well, since Prime 3 in 2007. Does modern Nintendo even have it in them to make a great Metroid game without undermining it somehow? I want to believe, but I'm not confident.

Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series X will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023.

I fail to see how making a great Metroid game would be so much harder for them than what they just did with BotW.

Will they give Metroid the same kind of investment they gave Zelda though? Plus recent entries like Other M and Federation Force suggest they don't even know what made Metroid a great series anymore.

Are we really going to ignore Samus Returns or what ?

My bad, I did overlook that one. But there is a big difference between just remaking an existing game for 3DS and crafting a brand new one to Switch standards.

I don't have a good grasp on game design and budgets, but I feel they should go strong with this one. Metroids fans have waited long for this, so they should go strong with this as a great return to the series.

Let me start by saying I disagree with the calculations in the OP. There's no way Breath of the Wild's budget was $60M, let alone up to $96M. I'd say it was $40M max, but possibly even closer to $20M. So I expect Metroid's budget to be less than $20M.

....But you asked what I would I. I would definitely spend more. I'd say around $30M. I've always thought that Nintendo should spend more on their games, but as mentioned, they are indeed very cost efficient, so that's why my recommendation is still a modest one.

35 Million. There's still demand for FPS games, and even more so for story driven games. Horizon ZD, Uncharted 4 and God of War proves that.

Game Dev - $35M
Bribing Reviewers - $5M
