No company wan't to pay the surpluss and look like overpricing asshats. Nintendos fault for choosing cartridges and now with the hack they're in desperate need of being able to cut their prices before people start jail breaking but they can only cut on the digital side. A mid cycle refresh is needed soon, different chip, different storage options.

I don't know why people get upset by this. This kind of stuff happened on Vita as well.

People know what they are going for when they buy a cartridge based system.

This is a classic collection, it won't be likely to sell alot so Capcom is cutting their risks and increasing their margin. Like... i understand the frustration, but it is the system you chose to buy.

How many times do we have to go over this?  We KNOW for a stone cold fact that 8GB and bellow is equal to or cheaper than a PS4 disc.

Therefore there is no excuse - none, zero, zilch - for this kind of behavior.  It's cheap, anti-consumer BS.  End of story.  People should be upset over this.  This is just insulting.  Cause it is NOT the system, it's the company.  This is entirely on Capcom.

Even worse for us European fans. Having to import the game from NA or Japan and the download code wont work

So far Capcom games have sold well in Switch. I do not think "risk" is a factor here.

"Nintendos fault for choosing cartridges"

wtf

Honestly, I don't think it's about the file size. Companies want to transition into all-digital as fast as possible, because it's way more profitable for them and they have much more control over pricing, distribution ,etc.

If that's the case then it must not be the companies and instead Nintendo keeping the prices hiked. Some games cost ten quid more on switch, if you are correct it's definitely not the publishers who are keeping those prices up, no one wants that PR. If it is Nintendo they need to stop it immediately and bring down prices before kids and teenagers start hacking there systems, at worst breaking there systems so they can't buy Nintendo games and at best taking a chunk out of sales through piracy. Nintendos prices have always been high but this is ridiculous.

No, no, NO.  The price I am referring to is what developers pay.  An 8GB cart costs the same or slightly less to put on the shelf for 3rd parties as a PS4 disc.  There's no Nintendo pricing shenanigans at play at those capacities, PERIOD.  We've known about the costs of these carts for 3rd parties for a year now.  What you have here is Capcom seeing an opportunity to have even higher margins on Switch than PS4 by being cheapskates.  And is this really shocking looking at Capcom's history of opportunism?  Stop blaming Nintendo for a BS move brought to you by the same company that has pulled enough crap over the years to fill multiple books.

This is in no way Nintendo's fault. The 8 GB cartridge costs the same for developers as a PS4 Blu-Ray disc (source: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/09/feature_exploring_the_switch_tax_and_why_nintendo_was_right_to_use_game_cards).

Capcom is simply doing this because they can make more money. They could have put this on 4GB cartridge and still made more money per unit than the PS4 physical release.

Also, referring to your first comment. (1) While the Switch is hacked piracy is not an option yet (though it is inevitable). (2) Both 3DS and PS4 have been hackable for a good while now with piracy yet neither has really suffered. (3) You fault Nintendo for using cartridges but what other option do they have? Mini-disc standards have not been updated in a decade and so they offer little storage (even Sony moved away from the UMDs to cartridges) and if they only had the option for digital purchases there would have been an Xbox One style outrage.

Its not like blu-ray discs could fit into the Switch and process as efficient, so cartridges were likely considered the better option, considering you're inserting the game onto the small console. Plus, what does this have to do with Capcom making people download a game despite having the cartridge, with a file size of 3GB no less?

What, do you have a single bit of proof for this? I fail to see how making anything with a circuit on it can be cheaper than a piece of plastic, blu ray is less than a dollar each including the content on it i.e. not a blank disc

Yeah, it sucks. I've been rather disappointed in Capcom these days. Aside from Monster Hunter and RE7, it doesn't seem like they're really done all that well. In terms of their track record, they're kinda off and on with their successes.
