Forums - Gaming Discussion - Far Cry 5 is Ubisoft Second Biggest Luanch. 50% of The Sales Were Digital.

Ubisoft announced that Far Cry 5 more than doubled first week sell-through of Far Cry 4, making Far Cry 5 the fastest selling title in the franchise's history. Digital distribution accounted for more than 50 percent of those sales. Far Cry 5 now represents the second biggest launch ever for a Ubisoft game, following only Tom Clancy's The Division, with $310M USD in consumer spending through the first week.

Thats pretty good for Ubisoft. I'm nota fan on the direction they took Far Cry 5 but im still glad its selling well.

I hope that more gaming companies are willing to launch their AAA titles in the first eight months of the year.

Far Cry 4 released too close to AC Unity when Ubisoft got backlash with Watch Dogs downgrade and AC Unity performance problems. It released close to COD, Dragon Age and GTA 5 on current gen consoles. Far Cry 5 released at an oppurtune time and it has clearly paid off. Well done!

Well, the digital shares of game sales are rapidly growing it seems.

Insane. Far cry 5 was a massive success. I'll get the complete edition in the summer half price.

I'm shocked so many of the copies sold at luanch are digital. Do people really find it that convenient with games that big, or does this game have massive PC sales?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Since no one commented in that thread, I'll let it slip.

Anyways, congrats to Ubisoft on their massive success. Well deserved imo.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

That's amazing, congrats to Ubisoft!

They were both posted a day ago. How do you determine which was posted first?

I wanted to buy it but I've never played the franchise before and I heard a few discouraging things about it on Facebook.

I'm just here to say I'm pleased about the digital performance. I'm a digital fanboy and I look forward to the days of digital domination.
