Deputy Head Moderators are ‘second in command’. Having many functioning normal Moderators is necessary, but as a ‘higher-up’, the duties are split + heavier and The Big Cheese remains, well, The Big Cheese.

I'm not questioning the way it is, I'm questioning why it is the way it is.

But why?

Because I didn't see anybody else doing it, and I think these are questions that need to be asked.

They NEED to be asked? It just seems like you're trying to make this more difficult than it needs to be, in fact, difficulty doesn't even come into it... deputy head  moderators work under the head moderator and above regular moderators in the same way a deputy manager works under the manager and above, well, lower ranked employees. You're thinking WAY too much into this...

That’s how Miguel and the rest of The Mod Team have decided to move forward. You’re free to disagree, but really, I think you’re overthinking it just a tad.

Well, I guess they don't need to be asked, but they should be asked. And again, as I said I don't agree with how that works either. If multiple head mods are replaced with one head mod who devolves power to multiple people, of course I'm going to be asking why that change was even made in the first place.

Was it a unanimous decision?

But this didn't, or hasn't, happened... there were two head mods, one of them stepped down, the other remains... he now has two people lower than him, but above the rest of us, deputy head mods, they have replaced nobody, it just makes life easier for him, and none of us have a problem with it.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

As a matter of fact, there was major disagreement between the mod team, but Miguel came with an Iron Fist and stifled all dissent.

Actually he just gave us all handjobs until we said yes.
