Forums - General - Do you litter?

I don't litter. I hold the stuff in my pockets or hand until I can find a waste basket to throw it away. There are plenty of those in berlin. I hate it when people still throw their garbage onto the street. It only shows how deranged they are.

I used to when I was younger, mostly out the truck window. Mom cared but not as much. Dad wouldn't have it at all. In my teens it became my job to take care of cleaning up all the trash and litter tossed along the edge of the farm. When you have a kilometer worth of roadside land in the country and you live fairly close to a beach, it's a huge pain in the ass keeping the place tidy.

Usually there were enough empties each trip to make it somewhat worth it time wise, sort of. Sometimes piles of fish remains, old furniture, desks, mattresses, etc. People are animals lol. One time I did pick up a stack of used coffee cups with the top one full of change under the crammed in lids, which had about $20 in it. Finders keepers. Serves them right.

It didn't take me long to make up my mind about littering when I was the one cleaning it up.

No, and I can't think of any reason I'd personally use to justify doing so.

I don't litter for the most part and in general, I don't make a big deal out of litter in cities. Fines and inmates can be put to use in solving that. The only time I get aggravated by it is when I'm at a beach, river, lake or woods and I see trash.

I've been to countries where people just throw stuff on the ground, it looks really bad, smells bad, spoils the feel of the place, and harms animals, costs society a fortune to clean up, I will never do that as I've seen the consequences

I even pick up other peoples litter, if someone litters I have a very poor opinion of them, and so does many of my country men/women, I live in Australia where nearly everyone keeps the place clean, which I am very grateful for

No, it's terrible that you just throw your crap out the window like that. I'm disappointed Spurge.

On rare occasions I do. I'll leave an empty coffee cup under the wheel of someone's car.

Typically I throw every thing away in the rubbish bin. It's about equal time and effort trying to figure out how to get rid of your rubbish vs throwing it away properly. Why bother?

I live in a town that believes litering is a sin. People still do it anyways.

I personally don't, I'd like my City to be clean.

I pretty much look down on people who litter and see them as a lower order of humanity. Don't get me wrong my house is a mess, train wreck but outside I don't feel I have the right to do that. I've seen glass bottles just left by the pavement and because I've seen such bottles broken later with glass shards that risks cutting dogs paws or injuring children I tend to pick bottles up and dispose of them but for other litter ignore. I guess if I disliked the community where I lived and had no respect for others I could do it. I did it as child but like most children didn't really think about the consequences of my actions. I think it's something you grow out of.
