Switch will leg it out in the end however. Wii really lost momentum in year 4/5.

It did but by then it’ll be too far ahead for the Switch to catch up.

Interesting take. I really expected you to point out the more obvious (something I would point out as well): nobody says the Switch won't lose momentum after year 3/4. All that is needed is the same that Nintendo did for the Wii or Sony did for Vita: stop making proper games for the device. And for all we know, it might happen again - or not. Future will tell.

Switch selling very well, but the only reason it's beating ps4 is because of the launch boost, this year will be 100% fair comparison, and ps4 is already in the lead.

You completely miss the point in your attempt to spin things: this was a comparison of the respective launch times, so PS4 had it's launch bonus as well. If you compare last year, then PS4 won anyways.

Ah, I love seeing old goalpost slogans. Funny enough I haven't seen anyone say it's gonna bomb harder than the Gamecube.

It's kind of funny how no one brings up the N64, too. That console just exists in a weird vacuum between success and failure.

Mark my words: Switch may bomb harder than the N64.

I just want the Switch to do well. If it's possible, I hope it can get into the Top 10 Best Selling Consoles of All Time, because it's a really good system. I don't think it'll break past the Wii in sales, or maybe even the NES, but hopefully it'll pass the Genesis after a few years.

lol signatues

we love a COMEBACK

Yeah, that's what I kind of figured. Especially here in America, the patriotism to the N64 is real. That's a big reason why I think N64 games tend to be looked back on more positively than most PS1 games, too.

Probably also why OG XBOX isn't considered a  .... TOTAL failure (arguably it did ok)

The N64 actually had a really good start in the U.S. In the 14 weeks it was available in 1996, it managed to sell almost as much as the PS1 did that whole year. It was also the overall sales leader for the Jan.-Aug. period. It wasn't until Final Fantasy VII came out that the PS1 took off and surpassed the N64.

The numbers I posted in my commentary excluded the Switch's launch month, and my comparison aligns them to their first full Q2+Q4 period. The Switch comes in first even ignoring March. Even if we shorten the time frame to their first respective July-Feb. period (an 8-month span), the Switch still takes the lead. Even when making all the proper adjustments to make a fairer comparison, the Switch still wins.

its still a unfair comparison, because switch didn't fulfill launch demand till october, while ps4 did by march 2014, there is a reason ps4 had it's best January in 2014.

Lol there is no such thing as a fair comparison with you.

2018 switch vs any other year for ps4, i have alway said this.  like the super nes classic thing is still selling out since launch, once it fulfills launch demand then we can get idea for the baseline.

Um do you not remember 12 hours ago when you made a big deal about Switch 2018 vs PS4 2015 being unfair because its a 53 week vs 52 week year?

You misunderstood big time, the only thing unfair was the month of January comparison since you didn't mention important info in the beginning  , which is a easy fix.
