Forums - Microsoft Discussion - RUMOR: COD Marketing Coming Back To Xbox This Year With Black Ops IIII

To me it's irrelevant, but good for MS and X1X

What's the benefit of this again? XB1 owners will get DLC earlier than PS4? At this point I dont think that'll make a difference.

I think Sony and Activision already know it's going to be huge sucess and will sell the best on PS4.  If rumours are true I guess letting Activision get some free money from MS is the idea?

We will see a massive change of PS4 to X1 ownership, over 10M consoles just on the Marketing... with the DLC that will reach 50M

Would have liked for that money to go into making new games. If it's true it sucks fo PS guys but at least I can finally get the DLC early again.

If for the esports community and the CoD fans that like to get the DLC first. It's also a Black Ops game so it should help sell consoles.

Sony had a 5 year deal that started in 2013. That would mean they would still have marketing rights.

Started 2015 with Black Ops 3. MS had it for Ghosts and Advanced Warfare.  Deal was for the 3 year dev cycle. The cycle ended with sledgehammer last year and starts all over with Treyarch so the deal is done unless Sony renews.

Activision gets free money no matter who gets the deal.

Either MS are willing to pay what Sony isnt, or Sony just dont feel the need to have the marketing deal anymore.

Ya I think Sony got what they needed from their deal with BO3 so they're good now and probably wont need to renew their deal.  Also it makes sense if Sony doesn't make a deal since they said they'll be focusing on 1st party.

I don’t see why Sony wouldn’t renew. Having that exclusive console during the holidays definitely helps bolster sales a bit. We’ll see how it goes though.

What evidence do you have of this? People aren't going to switch to an Xbox just because marketing it says its better. Communities are huge and that would require entire groups of friends to switch to a new, and expensive console. I don't think that's likely.

If they use IIII instead of IV I'll actually refuse to buy it just for that reason alone. It'll drive me crazy.

Fuck that.
