One thing is buying two $40 games to get the full experience, another thing is to have to pay $120 for that. Ideally, they would release one single version with all the content.

Of course it will. You know why? Because it sells. Game Freak couldn't give two shits about what constitutes better value for their fans.
ive imagined them making a single game with both versions available to play, say for example- they release "Pokemon Red and Blue" and when you start the game you can choose to play through Red version or Blue version, and each Switch profile will get to choose whichever version they want. you will have the option to switch versions, but only by deleting your save data.
the funny thing to remember is that the carts will not carry save data, everything will be stored on the Switch, so its going to be a big change in how Pokemon save files get managed no matter what happens
Actually, I've been thinking there's a good possibility they won't, but that's assuming the entire game is distinct.
I wonder if they'll make it so that for say an extra 20$ you can download the other missing parts from the other Pokemon version to your Switch console, assuming they still use that business model.
Why should they develop only one game if that would obvisouly hurt their profit?
watch them do 4 versions
2 for 3DS
2 that are in HD for Switch
xD

No, they will bring loot boxes with random Pokemon inside instead!

Not sure. Does Nintendo like money?

Does Kim Kardashians ass get stuck every time she tries to go down a kiddie slide at the playground?
