I haven't seen Ryse running on a PC but on Xbox One its not quite on the level of Killzone: Shadow Fall. ROTTR came in the same year Star Wars: Battlefront did and that looks phenomenal.

Haven't seen it myself but based on past DICE games I wouldn't be surprised. I'm only considering the ones I've seen or played.

Ninja Gaiden has nothing on GT4. That game runs at 1080i60fps with very detailed car models.

Arkham Knight looks way better on consoles. The Order 1886 would be a better comparison but I still think Arkham Knight is more impressive with its detail in an open world and has a full 1080p resolution.

This is best graphics, not about technical achievement. The Order has to win 2015.

I played Dark Knight on PS4, Witcher and Bloodborne looks way better in my opinion.

Did you xD

Disagree with some of these. I think at the very least FFX should be the 2002 one, it looked fantastic.

GTA4 for 2008 and GTA5 for 2014.

I'd put Dying Light above Batman for 2015 as well.

Dunno about 2007. Halo 3 was indeed impressive, but so was Uncharted. I didn't even play Uncharted until 2011 and it still wowed me then, so that's a tough call.

GTA 4 doesn't come close to Motorstorm: Pacific Rift in terms of graphics. Even the PC version doesn't hold up quite as well as Motorstorm. GTA 5 again doesn't come close in terms of graphics to Driveclub and many other games released that year. I understand your point about Uncharted but Halo has comparable graphics in bigger environments and more enemies on the playing field.

Around the Network

2008 - MGS4
2012 - Journey
2014 - its seriously difficult to discount Driverclub in rain, But infamous Second Son is up there
2015 - Order 1886

Objectively, Uncharted looks quite a bit better than Halo 3.

"Objectively"

Objectively indeed. Boot the two up and compare lighting, models, environment, etc etc. Halo 3 runs a lot better, but that is not exactly in the category of "looks".

It makes sense, anyway, as they are very different games, and the teams were going for very different things.

How good you think something looks depends completely on your senses, and can therefore not be measured objectively.

No, that is art style. Technologically, SMB from the 80's does not look better than Crysis from 2007, even if you like it more. You can see from the OP that the premise is technological.

Kinda pointless without screenshots, don't you think?

The OP would be too long and some of these look way better in motion.

Then post a gif?

If it's purely technological, then it would just be counting the pixels and frames per second. And then this thread would be completely pointless, because we could just look these things up.

However, the question whether or not a higher number of pixels and fps makes a game look better, is still 100% subjective.

2012 - Journey

So what drugs did you take to see best graphics in this intentionally minimalist visuals game?

My Etsy store

My Ebay store

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Minimalist! did u play journey?? or your one of those guy a who thinks graphically taxing game can only be achieved in FPS or TPS.. That year Nobody did Cloth, sand and fluid simulation better than Journey that too with multiple NPC, even PS4 remaster had to let go some rendering techniques as it was so CELL spu dependent. But I m pretty sure u dont care.. would love to know which did you considered better in 2012
