Xbox 360 Sales: 1.17; 6.8; 7.8; 10.9; 10.9; 13.25; 13.88; 10.68; 6.2m
Xbox One Sales: 3.07; 7.9; 8.6; 8.37; ~8.5m........

There has never been a hardware update like Xbox one X and PS4 Pro ....

Sales were expected to be higher this year and now they just made the Game pass announcement which is only going to help Microsoft sales.

Sure, hardware updates are new, but even the PS4 as a much healthier platform than the XB1 could increase its sales by only ~3m in the year after the PS4 Pro launch. The XB1X, which retails for $100 more than the PS4 Pro, would have to lead to ~5m of additional sales year over year. I mean, it can't be ruled that the XB1 finally manages 10m in a calendar year, but 13m is a different ballpark.

You cant compare the XB1 to Sony this generation. PS4 is the market leader and was selling like hotcakes regardless of which consoles. The announcement of Xbox one X has been hurting XB1 sales since 2016, hence why XB1 did worst in 2016 compare to 2015, 2016 the system should of been selling at a lower price point.

Xbox in 2017 sold roughly 8.5 million in a year of uncertainty and waiting for Xbox one X.

I think it's safe to say that XB1 should reach 10m sales this year. I expect Q1 2018 to be massive for XB1 with the sales boost from PUBG and the release of Sea of Thieves in March.

We will know soon enough when we see January numbers:

XB1 highest January - 335k
XB1 highest February - 448k
XB1 highest March - 490k

Xb1 Jan 9th 2016 - 75k
Xb1 Jan 16th 2016 - 64k
XB1 Jan 23rd 2016- 60.8k
Xb1 Jan 30th 2016 - 71.2k

Everone knows its not as popular as the 360. Is there going to be one of these threads every month then?

As long as this is a sales site and numbers are reported...

2017 was down YOY according to NPD and since US is by far XBO strongest market there really isnt any reason to believe its up in the rest of the world.

This site most likely has 2017 sales overtracked.

So that means the XB1 was tracking ahead of the 360 in 2016. That means XB1 sales by the end of 2016 were more than 28m. Someone earlier said that the XBO by the end of 2009 was 37m so XBO should be around 35-36m by the end of last year.

This means that vgc is mostly accurate at the moment.

I don't. Sea of Thieves will do well enough, I suspect, but I don't see any massive uptick for PUBG happening. If that were going to have any real impact, people would be buying the S model in droves - beginning with January. Sure, we don't know how things look for this month yet, but if Amazon is anything to follow (and it is), Xbox hasn't changed much.

Then you're expected the X1 to be up 1.5m consoles this year? Again, I don't. It would take something pretty major for that to happen (and I mean major - a HUGE system seller of sorts). It's not going to happen.

Why not? there are coming great exclusives and all 3rds on the prettiest peace of hardware ever created.

And mario or halo were also no system seller before they came out. So we will see how SoT or the other exclusves will help.

I expect much greater # then 1.5M  consoles increase compare to 2017.

Check out the Sea of Thieves Beta, combine with Game pass news and PUBG is a gaming trend setter. It's already at 4 million players on Xbox one.

The hardware's look is irrelevant.

As for Mario/Halo, Sea of Thieves could be a system seller, sure, but I doubt to the degree of either of those. I think if you place that expectation on it, you could be doing it a disservice.
