Number 1 again, gratulation @ PS4 and thanks for the biggest Games-Flood this year Next week Monster Hunter World. And in march many new PS4-Titles in Japan.

you don't get  my point if shipments were as of December 31 stock probably wouldn't be a issue right now.

what? PS4 will sell at least 3x more than Switch, just because it has a proper 3rd party support. tbone just compre Zelda Switch and FFXV PS4. I don't see any problem here

That's the point. Ps4 gets proper 3rd and 1st party support so obviously it's games will have less chance of outselling Nintendos first party. Remove the 3rd party support and I guarantee you Sonys first party games sell more.

People preparing for the MHW release next week, combined with reported Switch limited hardware and software numbers results in PS4 taking the 1st spot.

That comparison we all know Ps4 wins hands down. My thing isnt cherry picking. If i were to say 2 years ago hell even last year that Latest Zelda would outsell the Latest FF im pretty sure people would be bashing me (japan). Thats far more interesting as it happening is so low (at the time).

 

I said Zelda vs FF because Zelda is actually close to that of FF in the latest entries.

If anything,  the shipment for that last quarter would be higher, leading to shortage of inventory for this quarter.

First half of post: The absence of third party support on Vita didn't make Sony's games sell better. The opposite happened and they all did worse. The explanation is simple: Due to the lack of third party support, hardware sales on the whole suffered which in turn decreased software sales. If there's a lack of third party support, the burden of selling the hardware is on first party software. Sony's games aren't up to that task, so your claim doesn't hold up.

Second half of post: Why are you trying to bait tbone51 into thread derailment? This is a thread about sales in Japan.

Not baiting. Its a legitimate point. He makes many biased comparisons. I've noticed the pattern.

If you made these predictions back then it would be admirable. Instead you make them after the fact when it's a lot more likely the Nintendo game wins. Some of your comparisons are good however.

With how much switch is selling globally, including in freaking the big mainland european countries, ninty might not be able to stock switches properly without shortages anywhere else. Plus right now they have holiday rushing backlash of peobably quick shipping of units that would have otherwise been january stock.
Amd keeping high stock WW is much more important than in japan where it basically already has 30% market share already if we disreguard handhelds (both of which are REALLY starting to slow down).

Those numbers are not bad for Mario + Rabbids, I think. Let's hope it has some legs. Nice that Xenoblade 2 is still in the top 20. Good numbers for PS4, I guess people are preparing for Monster Hunter.
