Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.
When people are unable to see demonstrable flaws in their arguments (this sometimes applies to myself as well).

This is complicated because it's so annoying when another person does it but so hard to notice when it's yourself doing it. I try to pay attention to it, but it can be very very hard when you're caught up in a discussion.
People who confuse it's and its, so about half the users of the website.

Why? If you can still understand what the person is saying, why does that annoy you? These are forums, there's absolutely no need for everyone to write correctly, especially when you consider that English isn't the native language for most people here. Congratulations if you speak English fluently, but that's a privilege that most people didn't have the opportunity to have.

The problem with that is that the people who often make the most common mistakes and constantly repeat them are usually the native speakers

Exactly.
Misuse or ignorance of the definition of terms.
Lots of things really. Top ones are hardcore atheists and Trump.
